Shama'il al-Muhammadiya 71

Qataadah (may Allah have mercy on him) reports that: "I asked Anas to describe the shoe of Messenger of Allah ﷺ". He replied: "Each shoe had two straps"

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ: كَيْفَ كَانَ نَعْلُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ: لَهُمَا قِبَالانِ.

Ibn 'Abbaas(may Allah be pleased with him) reports that Messenger of Allah ﷺ shoe had two double straps

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ لِنَعْلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قِبَالانِ، مَثْنِيٌّ شِرَاكَهُمَا.

Shama'il al-Muhammadiya 73

'Eesa bin Tahmaan says that Anas(may Allah be pleased with him)took out a pair of furless shoes and showed then to us. They had two straps. Later Thaabit told me these were the shoes of Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ طَهْمَانَ، قَالَ: أَخْرَجَ إِلَيْنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ نَعْلَيْنِ جَرْدَاوَيْنِ، لَهُمَا قِبَالانِ. قَالَ : فَحَدَّثَنِي ثَابِتٌ بَعْدُ عَنْ أَنَسُ ، أَنَّهُمَا كَانَتَا نَعْلَيِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

Shama'il al-Muhammadiya 74

'Ubayd bin Jurayj(may Allah be pleased with him)asked Ibn 'Umar(may Allah be pleased with him)the reason for not wearing shoes with hair on them. He replied:
"I had seen Messenger of Allah ﷺ wear and perform wudu with shoes that did not have hair on them. That is why I also like this type of shoes"

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى الأَنْصَارِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لابْنِ عُمَرَ: رَأَيْتُكَ تَلْبَسُ النِّعَالَ السِّبْتِيَّةَ، قَالَ: إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَلْبَسُ النِّعَالَ الَّتِي لَيْسَ فِيهَا شَعَرٌ، وَيَتَوَضَّأُ فِيهَا، فَأَنَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَلْبَسَهَا.

Abu hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the shoes of Messenger of Allah ﷺ had two straps.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى التَّوْءَمَةِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ لِنَعْلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قِبَالانِ.

Amr bin Hurayth(may Allah be pleased with him) reports, "I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform salaah with such shoes that had another leather sole sewn onto them.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ، سَمِعَ عَمْرَو بْنَ حُرَيْثٍ، يَقُولُ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْنِ مَخْصُوفَتَيْنِ.

Shama'il al-Muhammadiya 77

Abu Hurayrah reports:
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: One should not wear one shoe and walk. Both shoes should be worn or both shoes should be removed.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى الأَنْصَارِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، قَالَ: لا يَمْشِيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي نَعْلٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، لِيُنْعِلْهُمَا جَمِيعًا، أَوْ لِيُحْفِهِمَا جَمِيعًا.

Shama'il al-Muhammadiya 78

Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited eating with the left hand, or the wearing of one shoe only.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ، يَعْنِي الرَّجُلَ، بِشِمَالِهِ، أَوْ يَمْشِيَ فِي نَعْلٍ وَاحِدَةٍ.

Shama'il al-Muhammadiya 79

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Whenever one amongst you puts on his shoes, he should begin with the right, and when he removes his shoes the left one should be removed first. The right should be first when putting on and last when removing the shoes.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حوَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، قَالَ: إِذَا انْتَعَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالْيَمِينِ، وَإِذَا نَزَعَ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالشِّمَالِ، فَلْتَكُنِ الْيَمِينُ أَوَّلَهُمَا تُنْعَلُ، وَآخِرَهُمَا تُنْزَعُ.

Shama'il al-Muhammadiya 80

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says:
"Messenger of Allah ﷺ while combing his hair ; wearing his shoes; and while washing his limbs during wudu, as far as possible began with his right.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَشْعَثُ هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُحِبُّ التَّيَمُّنَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ فِي تَرَجُّلِهِ، وَتَنَعُّلِهِ وَطُهُورِهِ.

Shama'il al-Muhammadiya 81

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the shoes of Messenger of Allah ﷺ had two straps. In the same manner the shoes of Abu Bakr and Umar(may Allah be pleased with him)had two straps on them. Sayyidina 'Uthman(may Allah be pleased with him)began the use of one strap.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ قَيْسٍ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ لِنَعْلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قِبَالانِ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ عَقَدَ عَقْدًا وَاحِدًا عُثْمَانُ رضي الله عنه..
