Abū al-ʿAbbās Muḥammad b. Yaʿqūb > Baḥr b. Naṣr > ʿAbdullāh b. Wahb > Muʿāwiyah b. Ṣāliḥ > ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Qays

"He asked Aisha, 'How was the Prophet's reading from the Qur'an at night? Did he recite audibly or in a subdued voice?' She said, 'He would do both, sometimes reciting audibly and sometimes in a subdued voice.' He (the questioner) said, 'Praise be to Allah who has made ease in this matter.'"

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي قَيْسٍ حَدَّثَهُ

أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عَائِشَةَ كَيْفَ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ كَانَ يَجْهَرُ أَمْ يُسِرُّ؟ قَالَتْ «كُلَّ ذَلِكَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ رُبَّمَا يَجْهَرُ وَرُبَّمَا يُسِرُّ» قَالَ قُلْتُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي الْأَمْرِ سَعَةً «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ» شَاهِدٌ لِحَدِيثِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
