Abū Dāwud Sulaymān b. Sayf al-Ḥarrānī > Abū ʿĀṣim > al-Nabīl > Ibn Jurayj > Ibn Ṭāwus from his father > Abū al-Ṣahbāʾ Jāʾ > Ibn ʿAbbās > Yā Ibn ʿAbbās Alam Taʿlam

Abu Asim, who is noble, narrated to us from Ibn Jurayj from Ibn Tawus from his father that Aba al-Sahba came to Ibn Abbas and said, "O Ibn Abbas, did you not know that the three caliphs, the Prophet ﷺ , Abu Bakr, and Umar, all agreed that the caliphate should return to one person?" Ibn Abbas replied, "Yes."

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سَيْفٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ قَالَ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ هُوَ النَّبِيلُ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ أَبَا الصَّهْبَاءِ جَاءَ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ الثَّلَاثَ كَانَتْ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَصَدْرًا مِنْ خِلَافَةِ عُمَرَ تُرَدُّ إِلَى الْوَاحِدَةِ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»
