To recognize her, I traveled around until I met her at the turn of the century. I said to her, "I have recognized you," but she did not acknowledge me. She then said to me, "It belongs to you, for the messenger of Allah ﷺ has commanded us to do so." I replied, "I have no need for it." However, he insisted, so she was thrown into the treasury.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ أَبِي السَّفَرِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ عَمْرٍو وَعَاصِمٍ ابْنَيْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِمَا أَنَّهُ الْتَقَطَ عَيْبَةً فَلَقِيَ بِهَا عُمَرَ فَقَالَ
لِي عَرِّفْهَا حَوْلًا فَلَمَّا كَانَ عِنْدَ قَرْنِ الْحَوْلِ لَقِيتُهُ بِهَا فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي قَدْ عَرَّفْتُهَا فَلَمْ تُعْتَرَفْ فَقَالَ هِيَ لَكَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «أَمَرَنَا بِذَلِكَ» قُلْتُ لَا حَاجَةَ لِي بِهَا فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَأُلْقِيَتْ فِي بَيْتِ الْمَالِ

I introduced her as my wife for a year. If she is recognized, then it's fine, and if not, then she is yours. أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُونُسَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ عِيسَى وَكَانَ الْوَلِيدُ ثِقَةً فِي الْحَدِيثِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ وَعَمْرٍو ابْنَيْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَجَدَ عَيْبَةً فَأَتَى بِهَا عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ
عَرِّفْهَا سَنَةً فَإِنْ عُرِفَتْ فَذَلِكَ وَإِلَّا فَهِيَ لَكَ فَلَمْ تُعْرَفْ فَلَقِيتُهُ مِنَ الْعَامِ الْمُقْبِلِ مِنَ الْمَوْسِمِ فَذَكَرْتُهَا لَهُ فَقَالَ هِيَ لَكَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «أَمَرَنَا بِذَلِكَ» قَالَ لَا حَاجَةَ لِي بِهَا فَقَبَضَهَا عُمَرُ وَجَعَلَهَا فِي بَيْتِ الْمَالِ
