ʿUbaydullāh b. Saʿīd > Yaḥyá > Ḥumayd > al-Ḥasan > Muṭarrif from his father

"Some people from the Banu 'Amir came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'We find some skin diseases in our camels.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'A loss for the Muslim is the burning of the fire (of Hell).'"

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرٍ قَدِمُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالُوا نَجِدُ هَوَامِيَ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ضَالَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ»

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The lost animal of the Muslim may lead to the burning flame of Hell.' ”

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَشْعَثُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «ضَالَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ»

Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. Bazīʿ > Yazīd / Ibn Zurayʿ > al-Jurayrī > Abū al-ʿAlāʾ > Muṭarrif > Abū Muslim > al-a neighborūd

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The stray of a Muslim is the burning fire, so do not approach it" three times.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ عَنِ الْجَارُودِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ضَالَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ فَلَا تَقْرَبَنَّهَا» ثَلَاثًا

Mūsá b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Abū Usāmah > Sufyān > Khālid al-Ḥadhhāʾ > Yazīd b. ʿAbdullāh > Muṭarrif > al-a neighborūd

"From the Prophet ﷺ , he said: 'The straying of a Muslim is the burning of the fire, so do not come near it.' Shu'bah disagrees with him."

أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ خَالِدِ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنِ الْجَارُودِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «ضَالَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ فَلَا تَقْرَبَنَّهَا» خَالَفَهُ شُعْبَةُ

We came to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , while we were on camels with saddles. We said, "O Messenger of Allah, we are passing by a place that is called a resting place, and there we find some camels, so we ride them." He said, "The lost property of a Muslim is the fire." Abdu Wahhab followed him.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ خَالِدِ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ عَنْ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ عَنِ الْجَارُودِ قَالَ

أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ عَلَى إِبِلٍ عِجَافٍ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا نَمُرُّ بِمَوْضِعٍ قَدْ سَمَّاهُ فَنَجِدُ إِبِلًا فَنَرْكَبُهَا قَالَ «ضَالَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ» تَابَعَهُ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ عَنْ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ عَنِ الْجَارُودِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «ضَالَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ»

ʿAmr b. ʿAlī > Abū Dāwud > al-Muthanná b. Saʿīd al-Ḍubaʿī > Qatādah > Yazīd b. ʿAbdullāh b. al-Shikhhīr > Abū Muslim al-Jadhmī > al-a neighborūd b. al-Muʿallá

He asked the Prophet ﷺ about the stray animals, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "The stray of a Muslim will burn in the fire."

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُثَنَّى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الضُّبَعِيُّ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ عَنْ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ الْجَذْمِيِّ عَنِ الْجَارُودِ بْنِ الْمُعَلَّى

أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الضَّوَالِّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ضَالَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ»

Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. Maymūn > al-Qaʿnabī > Ḥammād > Ayyūb > Abū al-ʿAlāʾ > Abū Muslim > al-a neighborūd

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The loss of a Muslim is the burning of the Fire." Jarir ibn Hazim disagreed with him.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ عَنِ الْجَارُودِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ضَالَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ» خَالَفَهُ جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ

Aḥmad b. ʿAmr > Ibn Wahb > Jarīr b. Ḥāzim > Ayyūb > Abū Muslim > al-a neighborūd

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Beware of causing confusion among Muslims, as it leads to the fire of Hell."

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ عَنِ الْجَارُودِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِيَّاكَ وَضَالَّةَ الْمُسْلِمِ فَإِنَّهَا حَرَقُ النَّارِ»

al-Ḥusayn b. Manṣūr > Ibrāhīm b. ʿUyaynah > Abū Ḥayyān > Abū Zurʿah b. ʿAmr b. Jarīr > al-Mundhir b. Jarīr

We were with Jarir by the pastures when a cow went astray. He saw a cow in it that he disapproved of, so he ordered it to be driven away. Then he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Only the stray will shelter the stray.'"

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَيَّانَ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ عَنِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ

كُنَّا مَعَ جَرِيرٍ بِالْبَوَازِيجِ فَرَاحَتِ الْبَقَرُ فَرَأَى فِيهَا بَقَرَةً أَنْكَرَهَا فَأَمَرَ بِطَرْدِهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يُؤْوِي الضَّالَّةَ إِلَّا ضَالٌّ»

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "None guides the lost except for one who is lost."

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ عَنِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يُؤْوِي الضَّالَّةَ إِلَّا ضَالٌّ»

That the Prophet ﷺ said, "No one shelters the lost and takes them in except someone who is lost."

أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ آدَمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّانَ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يُؤْوِي الضَّالَّةَ وَلَا يَأْخُذُهَا إِلَّا ضَالٌّ»

Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥīm > Asad b. Mūsá > Ḥammād b. Salamah > Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd And Rabīʿah > Yazīd a freed slave of al-Munbaʿith > Zayd b. Khālid al-Juhanī

A man asked the Prophet SAW about a lost camel. He said, "What is the matter with you and the camel's supplies and shoes? Leave it to eat from the trees and return to the water until its owner comes." He was asked about a lost sheep, and he said, "It is yours or your brother's or the wolf's."

أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ وَرَبِيعَةُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى الْمُنْبَعِثِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ ضَالَّةِ الْإِبِلِ فَقَالَ «مَا لَكَ وَلَهَا مَعَهَا سِقَاؤُهَا وَحِذَاؤُهَا دَعْهَا تَأْكُلُ مِنَ الشَّجَرِ وَتَرِدُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهَا بَاغِيهَا» وَسُئِلَ عَنْ ضَالَّةِ الْغَنَمِ قَالَ «هِيَ لَكَ أَوْ لِأَخِيكَ أَوْ لِلذِّئْبِ»

Isḥāq b. Ismāʿīl > Sufyān > Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Rabīʿah > Yazīd a freed slave of al-Munbaʿith > Zayd b. Khālid al-Juhanī

He turned red, and he said: “What does it have to do with you? It has its feet and its water supply, it can go and drink water and eat from the trees until its owner finds it.” And he was asked about lost sheep, and he said: “Take it, for it will be for you or for your brother or for the wolf.” And he was asked about lost property and he said: “Remember the features of its leather bag and strap, and announce it for one year, then if someone claims it, describing it to you with those features (give it to him), otherwise incorporate it into your own wealth.”

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى الْمُنْبَعِثِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنْ ضَالَّةِ الْإِبِلِ فَغَضِبَ حَتَّى احْمَارَّتْ وَجْنَتَاهُ فَقَالَ «مَا لَكَ وَلَهَا مَعَهَا الْحِذَاءُ وَالسِّقَاءُ تَرِدُ الْمَاءَ وَتَأْكُلُ الشَّجَرَ حَتَّى يَلْقَاهَا رَبُّهَا» وَسُئِلَ عَنْ ضَالَّةِ الْغَنَمِ فَقَالَ «خُذْهَا فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ لَكَ أَوْ لِأَخِيكَ أَوْ لِلذِّئْبِ»
