عَدَدُ الصَّلَاةِ قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ وَذِكْرُ اخْتِلَافِ أَلْفَاظِ النَّاقِلِينَ لِلْخَبَرِ فِي ذَلِكَ

The Prophet of Allah, may ﷺ , used to pray four units of prayer before noon when the sun would set.
أَخْبَرَنَا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ
كَانَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ «صَلَّى أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ حِينَ تَزُولُ الشَّمْسُ»

The Prophet ﷺ never omitted four rak'ahs before the noon prayer, and two rak'ahs before the dawn prayer.
أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَشِرِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «لَا يَدَعُ أَرْبَعًا قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْغَدَاةِ»

I offered with Messenger of Allah ﷺ a two rakʿat prayer before the Zuhr prayer and two rakʿat after the Zuhr prayer, two rakʿat after Jumua, Maghrib and ʿIsha' prayers.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ «يُصَلِّي قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَبَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَبَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَبَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

It was narrated from ʿAli ؓ that The Prophet ﷺ prayed four [rakʿahs] before Zuhr.
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي الْمَضَاءِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى عَنْ هُشَيْمٍ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ «يُصَلِّي قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ أَرْبَعًا»

About the prayer of the Messenger of Allah? She said, "He used to pray four before Dhuhr, then he would go out and pray, then he would return and pray two Rak'ahs, then he would go out to Al-Maghrib, then he would return and pray two Rak'ahs."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ
عَنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ فَقَالَتْ كَانَ «يُصَلِّي أَرْبَعًا قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ فَيُصَلِّي ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فَيُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ إِلَى الْمَغْرِبِ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فَيُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ»
