Which of the necks is the best?
بَابُ أَيِّ الرِّقَابِ أَفْضَلُ
Sunan an-Nasa'i al-Kubra, Book of Emancipation of Slaves(view book)
ʿUbaydullāh b. Saʿīd > Yaḥyá > Hishām from my father > Abū Murāwiḥ > Abū Dhar
He informed him that he said: "O Messenger of Allah, which deed is best?" He said: "Belief in Allah and Jihad in His cause." He said: "Which slaves are best?" He said: "The most expensive and valuable among them to their owners."
أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ هِشَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ أَبِي مُرَاوِحٍ أَنَّ أَبَا ذَرٍّ
أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ «إِيمَانٌ بِاللهِ وَجِهَادٌ فِي سَبِيلِهِ» قَالَ فَأَيُّ الرِّقَابِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ «أَغْلَاهَا ثَمَنًا وَأَنْفَسُهَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِهَا»

He asked the Prophet ﷺ, "Which action is best?" He replied, "Faith in Allah and striving in the cause of Allah." He then asked, "Which slaves are best?" He said, "The most expensive of them and the dearest to their families."
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي وَشُعَيْبُ بْنُ اللَّيْثِ عَنِ اللَّيْثِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ عَنْ أَبِي مُرَاوِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ
أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ خَيْرٌ؟ قَالَ «إِيمَانٌ بِاللهِ وَجِهَادٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ» قَالَ فَأَيُّ الرِّقَابِ خَيْرٌ؟ قَالَ «أَغْلَاهَا ثَمَنًا وَأَنْفَسُهَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِهَا»

A son does not repay what he owes to his father unless he buys him and emancipates him if he finds him in slavery.
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا يَجْزِي وَلَدٌ وَالِدًا إِلَّا أَنْ يَجِدَهُ مَمْلُوكًا فَيَشْتَرِيَهُ فَيُعْتِقَهُ»
