The Difference Between our fasting and the Fasting of the people of the Book
باب فَصْلِ مَا بَيْنَ صِيَامِنَا وَصِيَامِ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ
Sunan an-Nasa'i, Book of Fasting(view book)
It was narrated that 'Amr bin Al-As said:
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'The difference between our fasting and the fasting of the people of the Book, is eating Sahur."' '
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُلَىٍّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ " إِنَّ فَصْلَ مَا بَيْنَ صِيَامِنَا وَصِيَامِ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ أَكْلَةُ السُّحُورِ " .
Classification
It was narrated that Umm Salamah said:
"The Messenger of Allah used to fast three days of every month: the Monday and Thursday of the first week and the Monday of the following week."
أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَصْرٍ التَّمَّارُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ سَوَاءٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَصُومُ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ الاِثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْجُمُعَةِ وَالاِثْنَيْنِ مِنَ الْمُقْبِلَةِ .
Classification
It was narrated that Hafsah said:
"The Messenger of Allah used to fast Thursday and Monday of each month, and Monday of the following week."
أَخْبَرَنِي زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا النَّضْرُ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ، عَنْ سَوَاءٍ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَصُومُ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ يَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ وَيَوْمَ الاِثْنَيْنِ وَمِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ يَوْمَ الاِثْنَيْنِ .
