Muwatta Imam Malik Book of Judgements, Hadith 53

Malik related to me from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father from A'isha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ that a man said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ "My mother died suddenly, and I think that had she spoken, she would have given sadaqa. Shall I give sadaqa for her?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Yes."

وَحَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَجُلاً قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ أُمِّي افْتُلِتَتْ نَفْسُهَا وَأُرَاهَا لَوْ تَكَلَّمَتْ تَصَدَّقَتْ أَفَأَتَصَدَّقُ عَنْهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ " نَعَمْ " .
