It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ burned the palm trees of Banu Nadir, and cut down Buwairah (the name of their garden). Then Allah revealed the words:
“What you (O Muslims) cut down of the palm trees (of the enemy), or you left them standing...” [59:5]

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَرَّقَ نَخْلَ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ وَقَطَعَ . وَهِيَ الْبُوَيْرَةُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ {مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَائِمَةً } الآيَةَ .
