"Abdullah said, 'You are the most in prayer and the most in fasting among the companions of Muhammad ﷺ, yet they were better than you.' They asked, 'And why is that?' He said, 'They were more detached from the worldly life than you and more eager for the hereafter than you.'" – Sound Chain per Bukhārī and Muslim

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَالَوَيْهِ ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ قَالَ

عَبْدُ اللَّهِ «أَنْتُمْ أَكْثَرُ صَلَاةً وَأَكْثَرُ صِيَامًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ وَهُمْ كَانُوا خَيْرًا مِنْكُمْ» قَالُوا وَبِمَ؟ قَالَ «كَانُوا أَزْهَدَ مِنْكُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَأَرْغَبَ مِنْكُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ على شرط البخاري ومسلم – على شرط البخاري ومسلم
