ʿAbdullāh b. Jaʿfar al-Quṭayʿī > ʿAbdullāh b. Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal from my father > Abū al-Mughīrah > Ṣafwān b. ʿAmr > Shurayḥ b. ʿUbayd > Abū Mālik al-Ashʿarī Lammā Ḥaḍarath al-Wafāh > Yā Maʿshar al-Ashʿariyyīn Liyuballigh al-Shāhid Minkum al-Ghāʾib Annī

"When the time of death approached Aba Malik al-Ash'ari, he said, 'O people of the Ash'ari tribe, let the absent ones be informed by the witnesses among you that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The sweetness of this world is the bitterness of the Hereafter, and the bitterness of this world is the sweetness of the Hereafter."'" – Sound

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْقُطَيْعِيُّ ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ

أَنَّ أَبَا مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيَّ لَمَّا حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَشْعَرِيِّينَ لِيُبَلِّغَ الشَّاهِدُ مِنْكُمُ الْغَائِبَ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «حُلْوَةُ الدُّنْيَا مُرَّةُ الْآخِرَةِ وَمُرَّةُ الدُّنْيَا حُلْوَةُ الْآخِرَةِ» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ صحيح – صحيح
