Abū al-ʿAbbās Muḥammad b. Yaʿqūb > al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī b. ʿAffān al-ʿĀmirī > Khālid b. Makhlad al-Qaṭawānī > Ḥamzah b. Ḥabīb al-Zayyāt > al-Aʿmash > al-Ḥakam > Muṣʿab b. Saʿd b. Abū Waqqāṣ from his father

On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "The virtue of knowledge is dearer to me than the virtue of worship, and the best of your religion is being cautious and mindful."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ الْعَامِرِيُّ ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ الْقَطَوَانِيُّ ثنا حَمْزَةُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ الزَّيَّاتُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «فَضْلُ الْعِلْمِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ فَضْلِ الْعِبَادَةِ وَخَيْرُ دِينِكُمُ الْوَرَعُ»
