Abū Bakr b. Isḥāq al-Faqīh > Ismāʿīl b. Qutaybah > Yaḥyá b. Yaḥyá > Abū Muʿāwiyah > Muḥammad b. ʿAmr > Abū Salamah > Abū Hurayrah

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Observe the crescent moon of Sha'ban for the sighting of Ramadan." It is an authentic narration according to the conditions set by Muslim, and it was not contradicted.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ أَنْبَأَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَحْصُوا هِلَالَ شَعْبَانَ لِرَمَضَانَ» صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ
