The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform Tahiyyatul-Wudu (a prayer after performing ablution) consisting of five units (rak'ahs). He would not sit down except in the fifth unit, and he would only give the salaam (conclude the prayer) in the fifth unit. – Sound Chain per Bukhārī and Muslim

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ أَنْبَأَ أَبُو عُمَرَ أَنْبَأَ هَمَّامٌ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ حَدَّثَتْهُ

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ» يُوتِرُ بِخَمْسِ رَكَعَاتٍ وَلَا يَجْلِسُ إِلَّا فِي الْخَامِسَةِ وَلَا يُسَلِّمُ إِلَّا فِي الْخَامِسَةِ «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» على شرطهما – على شرط البخاري ومسلم
