Mustadrak al-Hakim 1134
Yaḥyá b. Muḥammad b. Yaḥyá > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. al-Mubārak > Quraysh b. Ḥayyān > Bakr b. Wāʾil > al-Zuhrī > ʿAṭāʾ b. Yazīd > Abū Ayyūb
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Witr (the nightly odd numbered prayer) is a right (that it should be performed)." Then the narrated something similar. [Machine] The ruler said, "I do not doubt that the two Shaykhs abandoned this hadith because some of Al-Zuhri's companions stopped it. This is a type of hadith that is not typically subject to such reasoning, and Allah knows best."
فَحَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ ثنا قُرَيْشُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الْوِتْرُ حَقٌّ» فَذَكَرَهُ بِنَحْوِهِ قَالَ الْحَاكِمُ «لَسْتُ أَشُكُّ أَنَّ الشَّيْخَيْنِ تَرَكَا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ لَتَوْقِيفِ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ الزُّهْرِيِّ إِيَّاهُ هَذَا مِمَّا لَا يُعَلِّلُ مِثْلَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ»
