Jaʿfar b. Aḥmad b. Naṣr > Yaḥyá b. al-Ward from my father > ʿAdī b. al-Faḍl > Maʿmar > Ibn Shihāb > ʿAṭāʾ b. Yazīd > Abū Ayyūb

That the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, "Witr (odd number of units for prayer) is a right (obligation)." So he mentioned it in this way and they left it. – Weak, Rejected

فَحَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ نَصْرٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْوَرْدِ ثنا أَبِي ثنا عَدِيُّ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْوِتْرُ حَقٌّ» فَذَكَرَهُ بِنَحْوِهِعدي تركوه – ضغيف متروك
