that the Prophet ﷺ sent him on the Day of Hajj al-Akbar with four instructions: that no one should circumambulate the Ka'bah naked, only a Muslim soul would enter Paradise, and no polytheist would perform Hajj after this year. "I came with Ali bin Abi Talib when the Messenger of Allah sent him to the people of Makkah with news of the dissolution of treaty obligations." He said: "How did you announced that no one would enter Paradise but a believing soul, no one was to circumambulate the House naked: whoever had a treaty with the Messenger of Allah, then for its period, or, it extended to four months, and when four months had passed, and that Allah is free from (all) obligations to the idolaters and so is His Messenger. No idolater was to perform Hajj after this year. I kept on announcing it until my vice grew hoarse." – Sound

Abu Talib used to treat the Zamzam well, and the Prophet ﷺ was one of those who used to transport the stones while he was still a young boy. So, the Prophet ﷺ took off his clothes and covered the stone with it, and then he fainted. It was said to Abu Talib, "Go and check on your son, for he has fainted." When the Prophet ﷺ woke up from his faint, Abu Talib asked him what happened, and he said, "A creature came to me wearing white clothes and told me to cover myself." Ibn Abbas said: "That was the first thing the Prophet ﷺ experienced from prophethood, that he was told to cover himself, and his aura was never seen since then."

And I do not like that anyone excels me (in respect of beauty). Perhaps he said: "even to the extent of thong of my sandal (shirak na'li)", or he he said: "to the extent of strap of my sandal (shis'i na'li)". Is it pride? He replied: No, pride is disdaining what is true and despising people.

So I went to him and with him was Malik ibn Murarah al-Rahawi. I caught the end of his conversation where he said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have been blessed with beauty that surpasses what you can see, and I do not want anyone to exceed me in their footwear. Is that considered wrongdoing?" The Messenger of Allah said, "That is not considered wrongdoing, but wrongdoing is when one rejects the truth or belittles it and belittles people." – Sound

When the Haruriyah (a religious group) left, they gathered in a house and they were six thousand. So, I went to Ali (may God be pleased with him) and said, "O Commander of the Faithful, calm down with prayer so that I may come to these people and talk to them." He said, "I fear for you." I said, "No." So, I went to them wearing the finest Yemeni attire. Abu Zumayl (a companion) said, "Abdullah bin Abbas (a companion) was handsome and prominent." Ibn Abbas said, "So I went to them while they were gathered in a house and they were saying. I greeted them and they said, "Welcome, O Ibn Abbas. What is this attire?" I said, "Why do you criticize me? I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wearing the finest attire." And I recited the verse, "Say, 'Who has forbidden the adornment of Allah which He has produced for His servants and the good [lawful] things of provision?'" [Surah Al-A'raf 7:32] Then I mentioned the famous debate of Ibn Abbas with them.

Jabir, we went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in some of his military expeditions. A man came out wearing two torn garments, wanting to drive the camels. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Doesn't he have any other garments?" It was said to him, "In his possession are two new garments." He said, "Bring them to me." So they brought them to him. He said to the man, "Take these two garments and wear them, and discard the torn ones." The man did as he was told, and then he proceeded with the camels. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at his tracks, amazed at his miserliness towards himself with the two garments. He said to him, "May Allah strike your neck!" The man turned to him and said, "I am fighting in the cause of Allah." He was later killed on the day of Yamamah.

"My father used to sit with Abu Darda in Damascus, and there was a man from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the Ansar, called Ibn al-Hanzaliyyah. He used to isolate himself and rarely socialize with people. He would only engage in prayer, and when he finished, he would engage in glorifying and praising Allah until he returned to his family. One day, he passed by us while we were with Abu Darda, and he greeted us. Abu Darda said, 'There is a word that benefits us and does not harm you.' He said, 'What is it?' Abu Darda replied, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You are coming to your brothers, so prepare your clothes and mend your means of transport, so that you appear as something good among people. Indeed, Allah does not like obscenity and vulgar speech."' " – Sound
