Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, his name is Abdullah son of Uthman son of Amr son of Kaab son of Saad son of Taim son of Murrah son of Kaab son of Luay son of Ghalib son of Fihr.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ الْحَلَبِيُّ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبِي مَنِيعٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ

أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ اسْمُهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ تَيْمِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ لُؤَيِّ بْنِ غَالِبِ بْنِ فِهْرٍ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever desires to see a person from the those saved from the Hellfire, let him look at Abu Bakr. And indeed, his name, which his family named him, is Abdullah ibn Uthman ibn Amr ibn Amr where he was born. But the name 'Atiq overwhelmed him." – Weak Chain

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ كَامِلٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَوْحُ الْمَدَائِنِيُّ ثنا شَبَابَةُ ثنا صَالِحُ بْنُ مُوسَى الطَّلْحِيُّ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِنْتِ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَتْ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى عَتِيقٍ مِنَ النَّارِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَإِنَّ اسْمَهُ الَّذِي سَمَّاهُ أَهْلُهُ لَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو حَيْثُ وُلِدَ فَغَلَبَ عَلَيْهِ اسْمُ عَتِيقٍ «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» صالح ضعفوه والسند مظلم – إسناده ضعيف

The passage translates to: "Ali heard someone swear, 'By Allah, the Exalted has sent down the name of Abu Bakr from the heavens as 'Siddiq' (the truthful).' If it were not for the ignorance of Muhammad ibn Sulaiman al-Saeedi, I would have judged this chain of narration as authentic. There is also supporting evidence in the hadith of al-Nazzal ibn Sabra from Ali. If it were not for the ignorance of Muhammad ibn Sulaiman al-Saeedi, the teacher of Ishaq al-Sululi, I would have judged it as authentic."

أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ وَاصِلٍ الْمُطَّوِّعِيُّ بِبِيكَنْدَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ السَّلُولِيُّ سَمِعَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ الْعَبْدِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ ظَبْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى

سَمِعَ عَلِيًّا «يَحْلِفُ لَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى اسْمَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ صِدِّيقًا» لَوْلَا مَكَانُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ السَّعِيدِيِّ مِنَ الْجَهَالَةِ لَحَكَمْتُ لِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ بِالصِّحَّةِ «وَلَهُ شَاهِدٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ النَّزَّالِ بْنِ سَبْرَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ لولا جهالة محمد بن سليمان السعيدي شيخ إسحاق السلولي لحكمت بصحته

"We agreed with Ali, who had a good soul and was joking, so we said to him, tell us about your companions. He said, 'All the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ are my companions.' We then said, tell us about Abu Bakr. He said, 'That is a man whom Allah called "Siddiq" (the truthful) on the tongue of Jibril and Muhammad (peace be upon them).' Halal bin Al-`A'laa denies the hadith." – Repudiated

حَدَّثَنَاهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حَمْدَانَ الْجَلَّابُ ثنا هِلَالُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ الرَّقِّيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ثنا أَبُو سِنَانٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ ثنا النَّزَّالُ بْنُ سَبْرَةَ قَالَ

وَافَقَنَا عَلِيًّا طَيِّبَ النَّفْسِ وَهُوَ يَمْزَحُ فَقُلْنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَنْ أَصْحَابِكَ قَالَ كُلُّ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَصْحَابِي فَقُلْنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ «ذَاكَ امْرَؤٌ سَمَّاهُ اللَّهُ صِدِّيقًا عَلَى لِسَانِ جِبْرِيلَ وَمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمَا» هلال بن العلاء منكر الحديث – ضعيف منكر

When the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was taken on the Night Journey to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, people began talking about it. Some people turned away from believing it, but those who believed and confirmed it went to Abu Bakr and asked him, "Does your friend claim that he was taken on this journey to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa last night?" Abu Bakr asked, "Did he say that?" They replied, "Yes." Abu Bakr said, "If he said that, then he has spoken the truth." They asked him, "Do you believe him when he says that he went to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa last night and returned before morning?" Abu Bakr replied, "Yes, I believe him even in something far greater than that. I believe him when he receives revelation from the heavens, either during the morning or while at rest." That is why Abu Bakr was given the title "As-Siddiq" (the Truthful). – Sound

أَخْبَرَنِي مُكْرَمُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْقَاضِي ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ الْبَلَدِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ثنا مَعْمَرُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

لَمَّا أُسْرِيَ بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى أَصْبَحَ يَتَحَدَّثُ النَّاسُ بِذَلِكَ فَارْتَدَّ نَاسٌ فَمَنْ كَانَ آمَنُوا بِهِ وَصَدَّقُوهُ وَسَمِعُوا بِذَلِكَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالُوا هَلْ لَكَ إِلَى صَاحِبِكَ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ أُسْرِيَ بِهِ اللَّيْلَةَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ قَالَ أَوَ قَالَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ لَئِنْ كَانَ قَالَ ذَلِكَ لَقَدْ صَدَقَ قَالُوا أَوَ تُصَدِّقُهُ أَنَّهُ ذَهَبَ اللَّيْلَةَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ وَجَاءَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصْبِحَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِنِّي لَأَصُدِّقُهُ فِيمَا هُوَ أَبْعَدُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أُصَدِّقُهُ بِخَبَرِ السَّمَاءِ فِي غَدْوَةٍ أَوْ رَوْحَةٍ فَلِذَلِكَ سُمَيَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» صحيح – صحيح

"Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, was a trusted companion of the Prophet ﷺ . He held a position similar to that of a minister, and the Prophet used to consult him in all matters. Abu Bakr was the second to embrace Islam, the second in the cave during the migration to Madinah, and the second in the Battle of Badr. He was also buried next to the Prophet ﷺ , and no one was considered superior to him by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."

حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا ثنا ابْنُ عَائِشَةَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ

«كَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَكَانَ الْوَزِيرِ فَكَانَ يُشَاوِرُهُ فِي جَمِيعِ أُمُورِهِ وَكَانَ ثَانِيَةً فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَكَانَ ثَانِيَةً فِي الْغَارِ وَكَانَ ثَانِيَةً فِي الْعَرِيشِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ وَكَانَ ثَانِيَةً فِي الْقَبْرِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُقِدِّمُ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدًا» في رواته مجهول

Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Aṣbahānī > Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. Rustah > Abū Ayyūb Sulaymān b. Dāwud al-Muqrī > Muḥammad b. ʿUmar al-Wāqidī > Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. Akhī al-Zuhrī > al-Zuhrī > ʿUrwah > ʿĀʾishah

"It was the day when it was cold, so he took a bath. He had been absent from attending the prayer for fifteen nights. Umar used to pray with the people while he was in his house, which was assigned to him by the Prophet ﷺ, and he faced the house of Uthman on that day. Umar instructed Asma' bint Umayis, his wife, to wash him after his death. However, she was weak, so she sought help from Abdur Rahman. He was shrouded in two garments, one of which was used for washing, and it is said that he was shrouded in three garments. He was carried on the bed of the Prophet ﷺ, which was Aisha's bed that she used to sleep on. Abu Bakr carried him on it, and Umar prayed for him in the mosque between the grave and the pulpit. He was buried in the house alongside the Prophet ﷺ during the night, and his head was placed between the shoulders of the Prophet ﷺ." The narration has been summarized by Al-Dhahabi. – Remains Silent

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رُسْتَةَ ثنا أَبُو أَيُّوبَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمُقْرِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْوَاقِدِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لَيْلَةَ الثُّلَاثَاءِ لِثَمَانٍ بَقِينَ مِنْ جُمَادَى الْأُولَى سَنَةَ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ وَكَانَ مَرَضُهُ خَمْسَةَ عَشَرَ يَوْمًا وَكَانَ سَبَبُ مَرَضِهِ

أَنَّهُ اغْتَسَلَ فِي يَوْمٍ بَارِدٍ فَحُمَّ خَمْسَةَ عَشَرَ لَيْلَةً لَمْ يَخْرُجْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَكَانَ عُمَرُ يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ وَهُوَ فِي دَارِهِ الَّتِي قَطَعَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وِجَاهَ دَارِ عُثْمَانَ الْيَوْمِ وَأَوْصَى أَنْ تُغَسِّلَهُ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ امْرَأَتُهُ وَإِنَّهَا ضَعُفَتْ فَاسْتَعَانَتْ بِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَكُفِّنَ فِي ثَوْبَيْنَ أَحَدُهُمَا غَسِيلٌ وَيُقَالُ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ وَحُمِلَ عَلَى سَرِيرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ سَرِيرُ عَائِشَةَ الَّذِي كَانَتْ تَنَامُ عَلَيْهِ فَحُمِلَ عَلَيْهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ عُمَرُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ بَيْنَ الْقَبْرِ وَالْمِنْبَرِ وَدُفِنَ فِي الْبَيْتِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَيْلًا وَجُعِلَ رَأْسُهُ بَيْنَ كَتِفَيَّ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص – سكت عنه

The cause of the death of Abu Bakr was the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . His body continued to deteriorate until he died. Its chain of narration is weak.

حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ثنا عَمِّي ثنا سَيْفُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

«كَانَ سَبَبُ مَوْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مَوْتَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا زَالَ جِسْمُهُ يَجْرِي حَتَّى مَاتَ» إسناده واه

"A man once presented Abu Bakr with a dish of poisoned meat. With him was a man called Al-Harith bin Kalada, who had knowledge (about the dish). When they ate from it, Ibn Kalada mentioned that it contained poison that would take effect after a year. By the One in whose hand is my soul, they did not live past that year and died on the same day, the first day of the year."

حَدَّثَنِي الْأُسْتَاذُ أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْأَشْعَثِ ثنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ اللَّيْثِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّي عَنْ عَقِيلٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ

«أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَهْدَى يَوْمًا لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ صَحْفَةً مِنْ خَزِيرَةٍ وَعِنْدَهُ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْحَارِثُ بْنُ كَلَدَةَ وَعِنْدَهُ عِلْمٌ فَلَمَّا أَكَلَا مِنْهَا قَالَ ابْنُ كَلَدَةَ فِيهَا سُمٌّ سَنَةٍ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَمْ يَمُرَّ الْحَوْلُ حَتَّى مَاتَا فِي يَوْمٍ وَاحِدٍ رَأْسِ السَّنَةِ» وهو مرسل

ʿAbd al-Ṣamad b. al-Faḍl > Makkī b. Ibrāhīm > al-Sarī b. Ismāʿīl > al-Shaʿbī

"He said, 'What can be expected from this worldly life, when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was poisoned, as well as Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, Umar ibn al-Khattab was killed by a blow to his nose, and the same happened to Uthman and Ali. Hasan was poisoned and Husayn was killed by a blow to his nose.' The secret is left." – Weak, Rejected

فَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ بِمَرْوَ ثنا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ثنا مَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا السَّرِيُّ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «مَاذَا يُتَوَقَّعُ مِنْ هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا الدَّنِيَّةِ وَقَدْ سُمَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَسُمَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ وَقُتِلَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ حَتْفَ أَنْفِهِ وَكَذَلِكَ قُتِلَ عُثْمَانُ وَعَلِيٌّ وَسُمَّ الْحَسَنُ وَقُتِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ حَتْفَ أَنْفِهِ» السري متروك – ضغيف متروك

I witnessed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying to Hassaan ibn Thabit, "Did you say something about Abu Bakr?" He replied, "Yes." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Say it so I can hear." Hassaan ibn Thabit then said, "Two out of two in the Manif Cave, while the enemy encircled it, when the two ascended the mountains. And the love of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for them was known by all creatures, for he did not substitute them in any way." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled, and 'Amr ibn Ziyad wrote down the narration.

حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْحَافِظُ بِهَمْدَانَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ زِيَادٍ ثنا غَالِبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْقَرْفَسَانِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ قَالَ

شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِحَسَّانَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ «قُلْتُ فِي أَبِي بَكْرٍ شَيْئًا؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «قُلْ حَتَّى أَسْمَعَ» قَالَ قُلْتُ [البحر البسيط] وَثَانِي اثْنَيْنِ فِي الْغَارِ الْمَنِيفِ وَقَدْ طَافَ الْعَدُوُّ بِهِ إِذْ صَاعَدَ الْجَبَلَا وَكَانَ حِبَّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ قَدْ عَلِمُوا مِنَ الْخَلَائِقِ لَمْ يَعْدِلْ بِهِ بَدَلَا فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺعمرو بن زياد يضع الحديث

You heard the saying of Hassaan [the simple sea], "If you remember a yearning from your brother with trust, then remember your brother Abu Bakr for what they did, the best of creations, the most pious, the most just after the Prophet. They fulfilled it with what they carried, the second successor, the praised one. His scene is the first of the people, from them he believed in the messengers." Remove it by Al-Dhahabi from the summary due to its weakness. – Weak

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَخْلَدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ثنا الْخَلِيلُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا ثنا مُجَالِدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَوْ سُئِلَ مَنْ أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ؟ فَقَالَ أَمَا

سَمِعْتَ قَوْلَ حَسَّانَ [البحر البسيط] إِذَا تَذَكَّرْتَ شَجْوًا مِنْ أَخِي ثِقَةٍ فَاذْكُرْ أَخَاكَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ بِمَا فَعَلَا خَيْرُ الْبَرِيَّةِ أَتْقَاهَا وَأَعْدَلَهَا بَعْدَ النَّبِيِّ وَأَوْفَاهَا بِمَا حَمَلَا الثَّانِي التَّالِي الْمَحْمُودُ مَشْهَدُهُ وَأَوَّلُ النَّاسِ مِنْهُمْ صَدَّقَ الرُّسَلَاحذفه الذهبي من التلخيص لضعفه – ضعيف

She said, "Abu Bakr asked me how many shrouds did you wrap the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in?" So I said, "In three garments." He said, "Wrap me in the same."

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ سَأَلَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي كَمْ كَفَّنْتُمْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ؟ فَقُلْتُ «فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ» قَالَ فَفِيهَا كَفِّنُونِي «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

"In how many white Yemeni garments did you shroud the Prophet ﷺ?" I said, "In three new white Yemeni garments, without a shirt or a turban." He said, "Wash my garment, it has saffron stain and a defect, and place it with two new garments." I said, "Indeed, it is worn out." He said, "The living deserves new clothes more than the dead, for surely he will wear them longer." - Reported by Bukhari and Muslim. – Sound Chain per Bukhārī and Muslim

فِي كَمْ كَفَّنْتُمُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ؟ فَقُلْتُ «فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ بِيضٍ يَمَانِيَةٍ جُدُدٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا قَمِيصٌ وَلَا عِمَامَةٌ» قَالَ «اغْسِلُوا ثَوْبِي هَذَا وَفِيهِ رَدْعٌ مِنْ زَعْفَرَانَ وَمَشْقٌ فَاجْعَلُوهُ مَعَ ثَوْبَيْنَ جَدِيدَيْنِ» فَقُلْتُ إِنَّهُ خَلَقٌ فَقَالَ «الْحَيُّ أَحَقُّ بِالْجَدِيدِ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ إِنَّهُ لِلْمُهْلِ» على شرط البخاري ومسلم – على شرط البخاري ومسلم

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the beginning of his prophethood while he was in Makkah and at that time he was in disguise, so I asked him, "Who are you?" He said, "I am a Prophet." I asked, "What is a Prophet?" He said, "A Messenger of Allah." I asked, "Did Allah send you?" He said, "Yes." I asked, "What did Allah send you with?" He said, "To worship Allah alone, break the idols, and maintain family ties." I said, "Yes, I believe in that which Allah has sent you. So who has followed you in this?" He said, "A slave and a free man," meaning Abu Bakr and Bilal. 'Umar used to say, "I remember that I was a quarter of Islam." Then I became Muslim and said, "Shall I follow you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "No, rather convey the truth to your people. When you hear that I have left Makkah, then follow me." – Sound

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي أَوَّلِ مَا بُعِثَ وَهُوَ بِمَكَّةَ وَهُوَ حِينَئِذٍ مُسْتَخْفٍ فَقُلْتُ مَا أَنْتَ؟ قَالَ «أَنَا نَبِيٌّ» قُلْتُ وَمَا النَّبِيُّ؟ قَالَ «رَسُولُ اللَّهِ» قُلْتُ اللَّهُ أَرْسَلَكَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قُلْتُ فِيمَا أَرْسَلَكَ؟ قَالَ «أَنْ تَعْبُدَ اللَّهَ وَتُكَسِّرَ الْأَصْنَامَ وَأَنْ تَصِلَ الْأَرْحَامَ» قُلْتُ نِعْمَ مَا أَرْسَلَكَ بِهِ فَمَنْ تَبِعَكَ عَلَى هَذَا؟ قَالَ «عَبْدٌ وَحُرٌّ» يَعْنِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَبِلَالًا وَكَانَ عَمْرٌو يَقُولُ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي وَأَنَا رُبْعُ الْإِسْلَامِ قَالَ فَأَسْلَمْتُ وَقُلْتُ أَتَّبِعُكَ يَا رَ سُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «لَا وَلَكِنِ الْحَقْ بِقَوْمِكَ فَإِذَا أُخْبِرْتَ أَنِّي قَدْ خَرَجْتُ فَاتَّبِعْنِي» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ وَقَدْ تَابَعَ أَبَا سَلَامٍ عَلَى رِوَايَتِهِ ضَمْرَةُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ وَأَبُو طَلْحَةَ الرَّاسِبِيُّ وَشَدَّادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَبُو عَمَّارٍصحيح – صحيح

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was descending in 'Ukaz. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, who follows you in this matter?" He said, "Two free men and a slave: Abu Bakr and Bilal." I embraced Islam at that moment. As for the narration of Abu 'Amr

فَحَدَّثْنَاهُ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرِ بْنِ سَابِقٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ وَأَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثنا أَبُو يَحْيَى وَضَمْرَةُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ وَأَبُو طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبَسَةَ قَالَ

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ نَازِلٌ بِعُكَاظٍ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ عَلَى هَذَا الْأَمْرِ؟ قَالَ «اتْبَعْنِي عَلَيْهِ رَجُلَانِ حُرٌّ وَعَبْدٌ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَبِلَالٌ» قَالَ فَأَسْلَمْتُ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ وَأَمَّا حَدِيثُ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ

ʿIkrimah b. ʿAmmār

Thana Shaddad ibn Abdullah, Abu Ammar, and he had met a group of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Abu Umarah said to Amr ibn Abasa, "O Amr ibn Abasa, by what do you claim that you possess one-fourth of Islam?" So he mentioned the Hadith in its entirety.

فَحَدَّثْنَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ أَنْبَأَ أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ

ثنا شَدَّادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَبُو عَمَّارٍ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو أُمَامَةَ يَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبَسَةَ بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ تَدَّعِي أَنَّكَ رُبُعُ الْإِسْلَامِ؟ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِطُولِهِ

"And he said, by Allah, I have never been eager for leadership, neither day nor night, nor have I desired it. I have never asked Allah, Almighty and Glorious, for it, neither secretly nor openly. But I feared Fitnah (trials and tribulations), and I am not at ease with leadership. However, I have been entrusted with a great task, for which I have no strength or capability except by relying on the strength and might of Allah, Almighty and Glorious. If I had wished, the Muslims would have accepted my leadership today. The Muhajirun (those who migrated from Mecca to Medina), accepted what I said and did not object to it. Ali and Zubair also did not express anger, except because we were deprived of participating in the consultation. We believe that after the Prophet ﷺ, Abu Bakr is the most deserving of leadership. He was the companion of the cave and the second of the two, and we are well aware of his nobility and greatness. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed him to lead the people in prayer while he was alive." – Sound Chain per Bukhārī and Muslim

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَيْهَقِيُّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُلَيْحٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ كَانَ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ مَسْلَمَةَ كَسَرَ سَيْفَ الزُّبَيْرِ ثُمَّ قَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَخَطَبَ النَّاسَ وَاعْتَذَرَ إِلَيْهِمْ

وَقَالَ وَاللَّهِ مَا كُنْتُ حَرِيصًا عَلَى الْإِمَارَةِ يَوْمًا وَلَا لَيْلَةً قَطُّ وَلَا كُنْتُ فِيهَا رَاغِبًا وَلَا سَأَلْتُهَا اللَّهَ ﷻ فِي سِرٍّ وَلَا عَلَانِيَةٍ وَلَكِنِّي أَشْفَقْتُ مِنَ الْفِتْنَةِ وَمَا لِي فِي الْإِمَارَةِ مِنْ رَاحَةٍ وَلَكِنْ قُلِّدْتُ أَمْرًا عَظِيمًا مَا لِي بِهِ مِنْ طَاقَةٍ وَلَا يَدَ إِلَّا بِتَقْوِيَةِ اللَّهِ ﷻ وَلَوَدِدْتُ أَنَّ أَقْوَى النَّاسِ عَلَيْهَا مَكَانِي الْيَوْمَ فَقَبِلَ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ مِنْهُ مَا قَالَ وَمَا اعْتَذَرَ بِهِ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ وَالزُّبَيْرُ مَا غَضِبْنَا إِلَّا لِأَنَّا قَدْ أُخِّرْنَا عَنِ الْمُشَاوَرَةِ وَإِنَّا نَرَى أَبَا بَكْرٍ أَحَقَّ النَّاسِ بِهَا بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّهُ لِصَاحِبُ الْغَارِ وَثَانِيَ اثْنَيْنِ وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ بِشَرَفِهِ وَكِبَرِهِ «وَلَقَدْ أَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالصَّلَاةِ بِالنَّاسِ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ على شرط البخاري ومسلم – على شرط البخاري ومسلم

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died, the Ansar said: A leader from among us and a leader from among you. ‘Umar went to them and said: O Ansar, do you not know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer? Which of you would like himself to be given precedence over Abu Bakr? The Ansar said: We seek refuge with Allah from being given precedence over Abu Bakr. – Sound

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا أَبُو الْبُحْتُرِيُّ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شَاكِرٍ ثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

لَمَّا قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ مِنَّا أَمِيرٌ وَمِنْكُمْ أَمِيرٌ قَالَ فَأَتَاهُمْ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَلَسْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَدْ أَمَرَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ يَؤُمُّ النَّاسَ» فَأَيُّكُمْ تَطِيبُ نَفْسُهُ أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ نَتَقَدَّمَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» صحيح – صحيح

"They indeed struck the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until he fainted. Abu Bakr stood up and started calling out, saying, 'Woe to you! Are you killing a man just because he says, 'My Lord is Allah?' They asked, 'Who is this?' He said, 'He is the son of Abu Quhafa, the madman.'" – Sound Chain per Muslim

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

لَقَدْ ضَرَبُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى غُشِيَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَجَعَلَ يُنَادِي وَيَقُولُ وَيْلَكُمْ أَتَقْتُلُونَ رَجُلًا أَنْ يَقُولَ رَبِّي اللَّهُ؟ قَالُوا مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا هَذَا ابْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ الْمَجْنُونُ «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» على شرط مسلم – على شرط مسلم

He informed him that he heard Suraqah ibn Ju'shum say, "The messengers of the disbelieving Quraysh came to us, attributing a debt to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr. They said that whoever kills either of them, the murderer will be demanded a compensation, and whoever captures them alive, they will be demanded a ransom." – Sound Chain per Muslim

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْفَارِسِيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ ثنا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عَقِيلٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْمُدْلِجِيِّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَخِي سُرَاقَةَ بْنُ جُعْشُمٍ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سُرَاقَةَ بْنَ جُعْشُمٍ يَقُولُ «جَاءَتْنَا رُسُلُ كُفَّارِ قُرَيْشٍ يَجْعَلُونَ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَفِي أَبِي بَكْرٍ دِيَةً وَلِمَنْ قَتَلَهُمَا فِي كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا دِيَةٌ أَوْ أَسَرَهُمَا» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ على شرط مسلم – على شرط مسلم

I heard Ali say, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ preceded and surpassed Abu Bakr and Umar by three. Then he said, 'Then we faced a trial, and Allah forgives whom He wills.'" – Sound

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرِو عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ السَّمَّاكِ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزِّبْرِقَانِ ثنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْقَطِيعِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا يَحْيَى عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ الْحَارِثِيِّ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا يَقُولُ «سَبَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَثَنَّى أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَثَلَّثَ عُمَرُ ثُمَّ خَطَبَتْنَا فِتْنَةٌ وَيَعْفُو اللَّهُ عَمَّنْ يَشَاءُ» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ صحيح – صحيح

When ʿUmar bin al Khattab ؓ was placed on his bier, the people gathered around him, praying and invoking blessings upon him before [the bier] was lifted up, and I was among them. No one alarmed me except a man who seized me by the shoulder from behind. I turned and saw that it was ‘Ali bin Abi Talib ؓ . He prayed for mercy for ‘Umar ؓ , then he said: You have not left behind anyone more dear to me, with the like of whose deeds I would hope to meet Allah, than you. By Allah, I think that Allah will most certainly join you to your two companions, and that is because I often heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, ʿAbu Bakr, ʿUmar and I went; Abu Bakr, ʿUmar and I came in; Abu Bakr, ‘Umar and I went out.” So I think that Allah will most certainly join you to them. – Sound Chain per Bukhārī and Muslim

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُؤَمَّلِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عِيسَى ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الشَّعْرَانِيُّ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ وَنُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ قَالَا ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ لَمَّا وُضِعَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ عَلَى سَرِيرِهِ فَتَكَنَّفَهُ النَّاسُ يَدْعُونَ لَهُ وَأَنَا فِيهِمْ فَجَاءَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَقَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ لَأَظُنُّ

أَنْ يَجْعَلَكَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى مَعَ صَاحِبَيْكَ وَذَلِكَ أَنِّي كُنْتُ أَكْثَرَ أَنْ أَسْمَعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «ذَهَبْتُ أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَدَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَخَرَجْتُ أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ» وَإِنِّي كُنْتُ أَظُنُّ أَنْ يَجْعَلَكَ اللَّهُ مَعَهُمَا «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» على شرط البخاري ومسلم – على شرط البخاري ومسلم

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the mosque with one hand on Abu Bakr and the other on Umar, saying, "This is how we will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment." Sa'id bin Muslimah al-Qurashi is a weak narrator. – Weak Chain

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْعَدْلُ الصَّيْدَلَانِيُّ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرِ بْنِ بَرِّيٍّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْقُرَشِيُّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمَسْجِدَ وَإِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَالْأُخْرَى عَلَى عُمَرَ فَقَالَ «هَكَذَا نُبْعَثُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ» سعيد بن مسلمة القرشي ضعيف – إسناده ضعيف

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The first person from whom the earth will split open is me, then Abu Bakr, then Umar, then I will come to the people of Baqi, and the earth will split open for them, and I will be sent between them.'"

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الدَّقِيقِيُّ بِهَمْدَانَ ثنا عُمَيْرُ بْنُ مُدَارِسٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ الصَّائِغُ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَوَّلُ مَنْ تَنْشَقُّ عَنْهُ الْأَرْضُ أَنَا ثُمَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ عُمَرُ ثُمَّ آتِي أَهْلَ الْبَقِيعِ فَتَنْشَقُ عَنْهُمْ فَأُبْعَثُ بَيْنَهُمْ» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ عاصم بن عمر هو أخو عبد الله ضعفوه

It was narrated from Abu Salih al-Hanafi that It was said to ‘Ali and Abu Bakr ؓ on the day of Badr. Jibreel is with one of you and Mikaʿeel is with the other, and Israfeel, a mighty angel, is present at the fight - or he said, is present in the ranks. – Sound

حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ وَخَلَّادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَا ثنا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ أَبِي عَوْنٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ قَالَ

لِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَلِأَبِي بَكْرٍ «مَعَ أَحَدِكُمَا جِبْرِيلُ وَمَعَ الْآخَرِ مِيكَائِيلُ وَإِسْرَافِيلُ مَلَكٌ عَظِيمٌ يَشْهَدُ الْقِتَالَ وَيَكُونُ فِي الصَّفِّ» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ لَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ صحيح – صحيح

Abū ʿAbdullāh Muḥammad b. Yaʿqūb > Ibrāhīm b. ʿAbdullāh al-Saʿdī > Muḥammad b. Khālid b. ʿAthmah > Mūsá b. Yaʿqūb > Abū al-Ḥūwayrith > Muḥammad b. Jubayr b. Muṭʿim > ʿAlī Yakhṭub al-Nās > Baynamā

"While I was at Badr, a strong wind blew and I had never seen anything like it before. Then it stopped, and another strong wind blew that I had never seen before except for the one that came before it. Then it stopped, and another strong wind blew that I had never seen before except for the one that came before it. The first wind was Gabriel, who came down with a thousand angels accompanying the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The second wind was Michael, who came down with a thousand angels on the right of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, with Abu Bakr on his right. The third wind was Israfil, who came down with a thousand angels from the left of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I was with him on the left. When Allah Almighty defeated His enemies, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ carried me on his horse and it shot off, causing me to fall on my back. I called upon Allah, and He held me. When I regained my posture, I struck with my hand at the people, until this wound of mine started to bleed." And he pointed towards his armpit.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ السَّعْدِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَثْمَةَ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْحُوَيْرِثِ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيًّا يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ

«بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَمْتَحُ مِنْ قَلِيبِ بَدْرٍ إِذْ جَاءَتْ رِيحٌ شَدِيدَةٌ لَمْ أَرَ مِثْلَهَا قَطُّ ثُمَّ ذَهَبَتْ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ رِيحٌ شَدِيدَةٌ لَمْ أَرَ مِثْلَهَا قَطُّ إِلَّا الَّتِي كَانَتْ قَبْلَهَا ثُمَّ ذَهَبَتْ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ رِيحٌ شَدِيدَةٌ لَمْ أَرَ مِثْلَهَا قَطُّ إِلَّا الَّتِي كَانَتْ قَبْلَهَا فَكَانَتِ الرِّيحُ الْأُولَى جِبْرِيلَ نَزَلَ فِي أَلْفٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكَانَتِ الرِّيحُ الثَّانِيَةُ مِيكَائِيلَ نَزَلَ فِي أَلْفٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ عَنْ يَمِينِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَكَانَتِ الرِّيحُ الثَّالِثَةُ إِسْرَافِيلَ نَزَلَ فِي أَلْفٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ عَنْ مَيْسَرَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا فِي الْمَيْسَرَةِ فَلَمَّا هَزَمَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَعْدَاءَهُ حَمَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى فَرَسِهِ فَجَرَتْ بِي فَوَقَعْتُ عَلَى عَقِبِي فَدَعَوْتُ اللَّهَ ﷻ فَأَمْسَكَنِي فَلَمَّا اسْتَوَيْتُ عَلَيْهَا طَعَنْتُ بِيَدِي هَذِهِ فِي الْقَوْمِ حَتَّى اخْتَضَبَ هَذَا مِنِّي دَمًا» وَأَشَارَ إِلَى إِبْطِهِ «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» بل منكر عجيب

I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he looked towards Abu Bakr and Umar and said, "These are the hearing and sight." – Good

حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْحَافِظُ بِهَمْدَانَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ الْمَدَنِيُّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ السَّعْدِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ فَقَالَ «هَذَانِ السَّمْعُ وَالْبَصَرُ» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ حسن – حسن
