What is the value of the ransom from paper and gold?

Muʿādh b. Hāniʾ > Muḥammad b. Muslim > ʿAmr b. Dīnār > ʿIkrimah > Ibn ʿAbbās

A man killed another man during the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , so the Prophet ﷺ set his blood money at twelve thousand. This is mentioned in the verse in the Quran: "They swear by Allah that they did not say [anything against the Prophet], while they had definitely uttered disbelief and disbelieved after their [pretense of] Islam and planned that which they were not to attain. And they were not resentful except [for the fact] that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them of His bounty." [Surah At-Tawbah, 9:74]

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَتَلَ رَجُلٌ رَجُلًا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ دِيَتَهُ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ أَلْفًا فهو قَوْلُهُ {يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ مَا قَالُوا وَلَقَدْ قَالُوا كَلِمَةَ الْكُفْرِ وَكَفَرُوا بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِمْ وَهَمُّوا بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُوا وَمَا نَقَمُوا إِلَّا أَنْ أَغْنَاهُمُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ} [التوبة 74] بِأَخْذِهِمُ الدِّيَةَ
