Shama'il al-Muhammadiya, Book of Description Of The Things Prophet of Allah ﷺ Drank

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports, Khalid ibn Waleed and I both accompanied Messenger of Allah ﷺ to the house of Maymunah. (Ummul Mu'mineen, Maymunah radiyallahu anha was the maternal aunt of both). She served milk in a vessel. Messenger of Allah ﷺ drank from it. I was on his right and Khalid ibn Waleed on his left. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said the right of drinking is now yours (as you are on the right). If you so wish you could give your right to Khalid. I replied that I would give no one preference from your left over. After that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, Whenever Allah feeds one something, this du'aa should be recited:
Allahumma baarik lanaa fihi wa-at'imanaa khayram minhu.(Translation: O Allah grant us barakah in it, and feed us something better than it.)Whenever Allah gives someone milk to drink one should read:Allahumma baarik lanaa fihi wa-zidnaa minhu.(Translation: O Allah grant us barakah in it and increase it for us.)Sayyidinaa Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that after having something Messenger of Allah ﷺ made du'aa for something better than it. And after drinking milk he taught to make du'aa for the increase of it, because Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, There is nothing that serves both as food and water excepting milk.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي حَرْمَلَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، أَنَا، وَخَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَلَى مَيْمُونَةَ، فَجَاءَتْنَا بِإِنَاءٍ مِنْ لَبَنٍ، فَشَرِبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، وَأَنَا عَلَى يَمِينِهِ، وَخَالِدٌ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ، فَقَالَ لِي: الشَّرْبَةُ لَكَ، فَإِنْ شِئِتَ آثَرْتَ بِهَا خَالِدًا، فَقُلْتُ: مَا كُنْتُ لأُوثِرَ عَلَى سُؤْرِكَ أَحدًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَنْ أَطْعَمَهُ اللَّهُ طَعَامًا، فَلْيَقُلِ: اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ، وَأَطْعِمْنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُ، وَمَنْ سَقَاهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَبَنًا، فَلْيَقُلِ: اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ، وَزِدْنَا مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ يُجْزِئُ مَكَانَ الطَّعَامِ وَالشَّرَابِ، غَيْرُ اللَّبَنِ.
