Qutaybah b. Saʿīd > al-Layth > Ibn ʿAjlān > Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm > Abū Salamah > ʿĀʾishah

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Among the nations, there used to be Muhaddathun (those who were given understanding), and if there were one in my nation, it would be 'Umar bin Al-Khattab."

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قَدْ كَانَ يَكُونُ فِي الْأُمَّةِ مُحَدِّثُونَ فَإِنْ يَكُنْ فِي أُمَّتِي أَحَدٌ فَعُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ»
