ʿAmr b. ʿAlī > Yazīd > Yaḥyá b. Abū Isḥāq > Sulaymān b. Yasār > Ibn ʿAbbās

I was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. A man came to him and said, "Indeed, my father is an elderly man and unable to perform Hajj. And when I mount him on a camel, he cannot stay on it. And if I tie him tightly on it, he cannot hold on. " The Prophet asked him, "Have you ever owed anyone?" The man replied, "Yes." The Prophet said, "Perform Hajj on behalf of your father." Abu Abdur-Rahman disagreed with him, saying it was narrated from Al-Fadl ibn Abbas.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَبِي كَبِيرٌ وَلَمْ يَحُجَّ وَإِنْ حَمَلْتُهُ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ لَمْ يَثْبُتْ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنْ شَدَدْتُهُ عَلَيْهِ لَمْ آمَنْ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ «كُنْتَ قَاضِيًا دَيْنًا لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «حُجَّ عَنْ أَبِيكَ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ خَالَفَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ فَقَالَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
