Muḥammad b. al-Muthanná > Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Sufyān And Shuʿbah > Ḥabīb b. Abū Thābit > Abū al-ʿAbbās Wahū al-Sāʾib b. Farrūkh > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr
Are your parents living? He said: Yes. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: You should put in your best efforts (in their) service.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ وَشُعْبَةَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ وَهُوَ السَّائِبُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَسْتَأْذِنُهُ فِي الْجِهَادِ فَقَالَ «أَحَيٌّ وَالِدَاكَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَفِيهِمَا فَجَاهِدْ»
