Al-Halifu Bil-Ummahat

Abū Bakr b. ʿAlī > ʿUbaydullāh b. Muʿādh b. Muʿādh from my father > ʿAwf > Muḥammad b. Sīrīn > Abū Hurayrah

The Prophet ﷺ said: Do not swear by your fathers, or by your mothers, or by rivals to Allah; and swear by Allah only, and swear by Allah only when you are speaking the truth.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ وَلَا بِأُمَّهَاتِكُمْ وَلَا بِالْأَنْدَادِ وَلَا تَحْلِفُوا بِاللهِ إِلَّا وَأَنْتُمْ صَادِقُونَ»
