What was narrated concerning the (voluntary) night Prayer is two by two
باب مَا جَاءَ فِي صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to offer the night prayers two by two.”
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى .
Classification
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The night prayer is (to be offered) two by two.”
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ " صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى " .
Classification
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:
“The Prophet ﷺ was asked about the night prayer. He said: ‘Pray two by two, and if you fear that dawn is coming, then perform Witr with one Rak’ah.’”
حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي سَهْلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، وَعَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَبِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، وَعَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ " يُصَلِّي مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَافَ الصُّبْحَ أَوْتَرَ بِرَكْعَةٍ " .
Classification
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:
“The Prophet ﷺ used to pray the night prayer two Rak’ah by two Rak’ah.”
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَثَّامُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي بِاللَّيْلِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ .
