Cauterization

باب الْكَىِّ

Sunan Ibn Majah, Book of Medicine(view book)

It was narrated from ‘Aqqar bin Al-Mughirah from his father that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever seeks treatment by cauterization, or with Ruqyah, then he had absolved himself of reliance upon Allah.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَقَّارِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ " مَنِ اكْتَوَى أَوِ اسْتَرْقَى فَقَدْ بَرِئَ مِنَ التَّوَكُّلِ " .

Classification

Hasan (Good) [Darussalam]

It was narrated that ‘Imran bin Husain said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade cauterization. I had myself cauterized and I have not prospered or succeeded.”

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، وَيُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْكَىِّ فَاكْتَوَيْتُ فَمَا أَفْلَحْتُ وَلاَ أَنْجَحْتُ .

Classification

Sahih (Authentic) [Darussalam]

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:
“Healing is in three things: A drink of honey, the glass of the cupper, and cauterizing with fire, but I forbid my nation to use cauterization.” And he attributed it to the Prophet ﷺ.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَالِمٌ الأَفْطَسُ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ " الشِّفَاءُ فِي ثَلاَثٍ شَرْبَةِ عَسَلٍ وَشَرْطَةِ مِحْجَمٍ وَكَيَّةٍ بِنَارٍ وَأَنْهَى أُمَّتِي عَنِ الْكَىِّ " . رَفَعَهُ .
