"I was the seventh of seven companions with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey. We reached the time of Eid al-Adha and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed us to each contribute a silver coin. We bought a sacrificial animal for seven silver coins and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we have spent a lot on it.' He replied, 'The best sacrifices are the most expensive and fattest ones.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed us, and a man held one leg, another held another leg, one man held a hand, another held the other hand, one man held a horn, and another held the other horn, and they slaughtered the animal and all of us joined in saying takbeer (Allahu Akbar). Uthman ibn Zafar is trustworthy."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثَنَا أَبُو عُتْبَةَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ ثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ زُفَرَ الْجُهَنِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ السُّلَمِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ

كُنْتُ سَابِعَ سَبْعَةٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرِهِ فَأَدْرَكَنَا الْأَضْحَى فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَجَمَعَ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنَّا دِرْهَمًا فَاشْتَرَيْنَا أُضْحِيَّةً بِسَبْعَةِ دَرَاهِمَ وَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ غَلِينَا بِهَا فَقَالَ «إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الضَّحَايَا أَغْلَاهَا وَأَسْمَنُهَا» قَالَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَخَذَ رَجُلٌ بِرِجْلٍ وَرَجُلٌ بِرِجْلٍ وَرَجُلٌ بِيَدٍ وَرَجُلٌ بِيَدٍ وَرَجُلٌ بِقَرْنٍ وَرَجُلٌ بِقَرْنٍ وَذَبَحَ السَّابِعُ وَكَبِّرُوا عَلَيْهَا جَمِيعًاعثمان بن زفر ثقة
