Abū al-ʿAbbās Muḥammad b. Yaʿqūb > Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Ḥakam > Ibn Wahb > Yaḥyá b. ʿAbdullāh b. Sālim Wayaʿqūb b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman > ʿAmr a freed slave of al-Muṭṭalib > al-Muṭṭalib b. ʿAbdullāh > a man from Banī Salamah > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh Akhbarahumā

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed for the people on the day of sacrifice, and when he finished his sermon and prayer, he slaughtered a sheep with his own hand and said, "In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest. O Allah, this is on my behalf and on behalf of those who have not sacrificed from my nation."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ وَيَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَمْرٍو مَوْلَى الْمُطَّلِبِ عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَعَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَهُمَا

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَّى لِلنَّاسِ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ خُطْبَتِهِ وَصَلَاتِهِ ضَحَّى بِكَبْشٍ فَذَبَحَهُ هُوَ بِنَفْسِهِ وَقَالَ «بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا عَنِّي وَعَنْ مَنْ لَمْ يُضَحِّ مِنْ أُمَّتِي»
