Your mother cursed you, saying, "May I not see you praying when the book of Allah has commanded that every torn page be torn apart." So I continued with my prayer, while sitting. Then I entered the house and did not sit. I recited some verses, and still, I did not sit. Suddenly, I found myself with Al-Ash'ari, Hudhayfah, and Ibn Mas'ud speaking to each other. Hudhayfah said to Ibn Mas'ud, "Pass this Quran to them." Ibn Mas'ud replied, "By Allah, I will not give it to them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited to me seventy-two Surahs, then I will pass it to them. By Allah, I will not give it to them." – Sound

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى بْنِ مُعَاذٍ ثنا أَبِي ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَيْسَرَةَ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ قَالَ أَتَى عَلَيَّ رَجُلٌ وَأَنَا أُصَلِّي فَقَالَ

ثَكِلَتْكَ أُمُّكَ أَلَا أَرَاكَ تُصَلِّي وَقَدْ أَمَرَ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ أَنْ يُمَزَّقَ كُلَّ مُمَزَّقٍ قَالَ فَتَجَوَّزْتُ فِي صَلَاتِي وَكُنْتُ أَجْلِسُ فَدَخَلْتُ الدَّارَ وَلَمْ أَجْلِسْ وَرَقِيتُ فَلَمْ أَجْلِسْ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِالْأَشْعَرِيِّ وَحُذَيْفَةَ وَابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَتَقَاوَلَانِ وَحُذَيْفَةُ يَقُولُ لِابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ادْفَعْ إِلَيْهِمْ هَذَا الْمُصْحَفَ قَالَ «وَاللَّهِ لَا أَدْفَعُهُ إِلَيْهِمْ أَقْرَأَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِضْعًا وَسَبْعِينَ سُورَةً ثُمَّ أَدْفَعُهُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَاللَّهِ لَا أَدْفَعُهُ إِلَيْهِمْ» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ صحيح – صحيح
