ʿAlī b. Ḥamshādh al-ʿAdl > Hishām b. ʿAlī > Mūsá b. Ismāʿīl > Ḥammād b. Salamah > Thābit > Anas

that the Prophet ﷺ wanted to marry a woman, so he sent a woman to look at her. He said, "Smell her perfume and look at her ankles." She came to them and they said, "Shall we offer you food, O mother of so-and-so?" She said, "I will not eat except from food that Fulanah brought." He said, "So I climbed up a shelf for them and she looked at her ankles, then she said, 'Rub oil on me, O my son.'" So he started rubbing oil on her while she smelled her perfume. He said, "Then she came and informed (the Prophet)." – Sound Chain per Muslim

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً فَبَعَثَ امْرَأَةً لِتَنْظُرَ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَ «شُمِّي عَوَارِضَهَا وَانْظُرِي إِلَى عُرْقُوبَيْهَا» قَالَ فَجَاءَتْ إِلَيْهِمْ فَقَالُوا أَلَا نُغَدِّيكِ يَا أُمَّ فُلَانٍ؟ فَقَالَتْ لَا آكُلُ إِلَّا مِنْ طَعَامٍ جَاءَتْ بِهِ فُلَانَةٌ قَالَ فَصَعِدْتُ فِي رَفٍّ لَهُمْ فَنَظَرَتْ إِلَى عُرْقُوبَيْهَا ثُمَّ قَالَتْ أَفْلِينِي يَا بُنَيَّةُ قَالَ فَجَعَلَتْ تُفْلِيهَا وَهِيَ تَشُمُّ عَوَارِضَهَا قَالَ فَجَاءَتْ فَأَخْبَرَتْ «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» على شرط مسلم – على شرط مسلم
