Mustadrak al-Hakim 1231

Abū Muḥammad ʿAbdullāh b. Jaʿfar b. Darastawayh al-Fārisī > Yaʿqūb b. Sufyān al-Fārisī > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. ʿAbdullāh al-Ūwaysī > Muslim b. Khālid > Ismāʿīl b. Umayyah > Nāfiʿ > Ibn ʿUmar

Indeed, the sun eclipsed on the day Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, passed away. The people thought that it had eclipsed due to his death. Then the Prophet ﷺ stood up and said, "O people, indeed the sun and the moon are two signs from the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse due to the death or life of anyone. So, when you witness this, stand up for prayer, remember Allah, supplicate, and give in charity."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ دَرَسْتَوَيْهِ الْفَارِسِيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الْفَارِسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأُوَيْسِيُّ ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ الشَّمْسَ كَسَفَتْ يَوْمَ مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ ابْنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَظَنَّ النَّاسُ أَنَّمَا انْكَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِهِ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَقُومُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَإِلَى ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَادْعُوا وَتَصَدَّقُوا» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ
