The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to deliver a sermon. Al-Hasan and Al-Husain (peace be upon them) came wearing two red shirts, stumbling and walking. He welcomed them and took them in front of him. Then he said, "Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth: Verily, your wealth and your children are but a trial." [Surah Al-Taghabun, verse 15] I saw these two children of mine and could not bear it until I came down and took them. Then he continued with his sermon. This is an authentic hadith according to the conditions of Muslim, and it has not been excluded. It is the basis for interrupting the sermon and descending from the pulpit when necessary. – Sound Chain per Muslim

وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمَحْبُوبِيُّ ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ وَأَخْبَرَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ السَّيَّارِيُّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ قَالَا ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَأَقْبَلَ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ عَلَيْهِمَا قَمِيصَانِ أَحْمَرَانِ يَعْثُرَانِ وَيَقُومَانِ فَنَزَلَ فَأَخَذَهُمَا فَوَضَعَهُمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ {إِنَّمَا أَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَوْلَادُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ} [التغابن 15] رَأَيْتُ وَلَدَيَّ هَذَيْنِ فَلَمْ أَصْبِرْ حَتَّى نَزَلْتُ فَأَخَذْتُهُمَا « ثُمَّ أَخَذَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ» هَذَا «حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ وَهُوَ أَصْلٌ فِي قَطْعِ الْخُطْبَةِ وَالنُّزُولِ مِنَ الْمِنْبَرِ عِنْدَ الْحَاجَةِ» على شرط مسلم – على شرط مسلم
