أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ» – إسناده صحيح

“I heard Ibn ‘Abbas saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Two blessings which many people squander: Good health and free time.’” – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا الْمَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ هُوَ ابْنُ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ الصِّحَّةَ وَالْفَرَاغَ نِعْمَتَانِ مِنْ نِعَمِ اللَّهِ مَغْبُونٌ فِيهِمَا كَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ» – إسناده صحيح

ʿAmr b. ʿAwn > Khālid / Ibn ʿAbdullāh > Khālid al-Ḥadhhāʾ > ʿIkrimah > Ibn ʿAbbās

From the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "Whoever listens to the conversations of a people while they dislike him, it is poured into his ear." – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ أَنْبَأَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنِ اسْتَمَعَ إِلَى حَدِيثِ قَوْمٍ وَهُمْ لَهُ كَارِهُونَ صُبَّ فِي أُذُنِهِ الْآنُكُ» – إسناده صحيح

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “Do not follow one glance with another; you may be allowed the first but not the second.ʿ – Fair Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا تُتْبِعِ النَّظْرَةَ النَّظْرَةَ فَإِنَّ الْأُولَى لَكَ وَالْآخِرَةَ عَلَيْكَ» – إسناده جيد

I said, "O Messenger of Allah, tell me about an action in Islam that I will not have to seek anyone's help for." He said, "Fear Allah and be upright." I said, "Then what?" He pointed to his tongue and said. – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَخْبِرْنِي بِعَمَلٍ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْهُ أَحَدًا قَالَ «اتَّقِ اللَّهَ ثُمَّ اسْتَقِمْ» قَالَ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ أَيُّ شَيْءٍ؟ قَالَ فَأَشَارَ إِلَى لِسَانِهِ – إسناده صحيح

Abū Nuʿaym > Ibrāhīm / Ibn Ismāʿīl b. Mujammiʿ > Ibn Shihāb > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Muʿādh > Sufyān b. ʿAbdullāh

“I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, tell me of something that I can adhere to.’ He said: ‘Say: “Allah is my Lord,” then stand straight (adhere steadfastly to Islam).’ He said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is the thing that you fear most for me?’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took hold of his own tongue, then he said: ‘This.’” – Sound

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُجَمِّعٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مُرْنِي بِأَمْرٍ أَعْتَصِمُ بِهِ قَالَ «قُلْ رَبِّيَ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقِمْ» قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ مَا أَكْثَرُ مَا تَخَوَّفُ عَلَيَّ؟ قَالَ فَأَخَذَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِلِسَانِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَذَا» – صحيح

"I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, whose Islam is most virtuous?' He said: 'The one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe.'" – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ الْإِسْلَامِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ «مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ» – إسناده صحيح

Isḥāq b. ʿĪsá > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUqbah > Yazīd b. ʿAmr > Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥman al-Ḥubulī > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ

"Whoever is silent, he is saved." – Weak Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ صَمَتَ نَجَا» – إسناده ضعيف

Nuʿaym b. Ḥammād > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Muḥammad > al-ʿAlāʾ from his father > Abū Hurayrah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked: Messenger of Allah! What is back-biting? He replied: It is saying something about your brother which he would dislike. He was asked again: Tell me how the matter stands if what I say about my brother is true? He replied: If what you say of him is true, you have slandered him, and if what you say of him is not true, you have reviled him. – Good Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قِيلَ لَهُ مَا الْغِيبَةُ؟ قَالَ «ذِكْرُكَ أَخَاكَ بِمَا يَكْرَهُ» قِيلَ وَإِنْ كَانَ فِي أَخِي مَا أَقُولُ؟ قَالَ «فَإِنْ كَانَ فِيهِ فَقَدِ اغْتَبْتَهُ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ فَقَدْ بَهَتَّهُ» – إسناده حسن

ʿUthmān b. Muḥammad > Jarīr > Idrīs al-Awdī > Abū Isḥaq > Abū al-Aḥwaṣ

That Abdullah narrates Hadiths to the Prophet ﷺ who said: "Verily, the worst of narrators are those who narrate lies. Neither seriousness nor joking is permissible in lying. And a man promises his son, but does not fulfill it. Verily, truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. It is said that the truthful person is truthful and righteous, and it is said that the liar is a liar and wicked. Indeed, a person will continue to be truthful until he is recorded with Allah as truthful, and he will lie until he is recorded with Allah as a liar." – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ إِدْرِيسَ الْأَوْدِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ

أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ يَرْفَعُ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ شَرَّ الرَّوَايَا رَوَايَا الْكَذِبِ وَلَا يَصْلُحُ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ جِدٌّ وَلَا هَزْلٌ وَلَا يَعِدُ الرَّجُلُ ابْنَهُ ثُمَّ لَا يُنْجِزُ لَهُ إِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَإِنَّ الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَإِنَّهُ يُقَالُ لِلصَّادِقِ صَدَقَ وَبَرَّ وَيُقَالُ لِلْكَاذِبِ كَذَبَ وَفَجَرَ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ صِدِّيقًا وَيَكْذِبُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَذَّابًا – إسناده صحيح

Abū Nuʿaym > Zakariyyā > al-Shaʿbī > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr

The Prophet ﷺ said, "A Muslim is the one who avoids harming Muslims with his tongue and hands. And a Muhajir (emigrant) is the one who gives up (abandons) all what Allah has forbidden." – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو يَقُولُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الْمُسْلِمُ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ» – إسناده صحيح

Abū Nuʿaym > al-Fuḍayl b. Marzūq > ʿAdī b. Thābit > Abū Ḥāzim > Abū Hurayrah

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O you people! Indeed Allah is Tayyib (good) and he does not accept but what is good. And indeed Allah ordered the believers with what He ordered the Messengers. He ﷺ said: 'O you Messengers! Eat of the good things and do righteous deeds. Verily I am well acquainted with what you do (23:51).' And He said: 'O you who believe! Eat from the good things We have provided you (2:172).' He said: "And he mentioned a man: 'Who is undertaking a long journey, whose hair is dishevelled and he is covered with dust. He raises his hands to the heavens and says: "O Lord! O Lord!" Yet his food is from the unlawful, his drink is from the unlawful, his clothing is from the unlawful, and he was nourished by the unlawful. So how can that be accepted?'" – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْفُضَيْلُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَدِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ طَيِّبٌ لَا يَقْبَلُ إِلَّا الطَّيِّبَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَمَرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِمَا أَمَرَ بِهِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ قَالَ {يَا أَيُّهَا الرُّسُلُ كُلُوا مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَاعْمَلُوا صَالِحًا إِنِّي بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ} [المؤمنون 51] وَقَالَ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَاشْكُرُوا لِلَّهِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَ} [البقرة 172] قَالَ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ الرَّجُلَ يُطِيلُ السَّفَرَ أَشْعَثَ أَغْبَرَ يَمُدُّ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ وَمَطْعَمُهُ حَرَامٌ وَمَلْبَسُهُ حَرَامٌ وَمَشْرَبُهُ حَرَامٌ وَغُذِّيَ بِالْحَرَامِ فَأَنَّى يُسْتَجَابُ لِذَلِكَ؟ – إسناده صحيح

ʿAffān > Ḥammād b. Salamah > al-Jurayrī > Abū Naḍrah > ʿAbdullāh b. Mawalah > Buraydah al-Aslamī

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is sufficient for one of you to have a servant and a means of transportation from this worldly life." – Sound Chain

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَوَلَةَ عَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَكْفِي أَحَدَكُمْ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا خَادِمٌ وَمَرْكَبٌ» – إسناده صحيح

Saʿīd b. Manṣūr > Abū ʿAwānah > Bayān > Ibn Bishr al-Aḥmasī > Qays > Mirdās al-Aslamī

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The righteous ones will depart first, while the rest will remain like the remnants of barley." – Sound Chain

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ بَيَانٍ هُوَ ابْنُ بِشْرٍ الْأَحْمَسِيُّ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ مِرْدَاسٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَذْهَبُ الصَّالِحُونَ أَسْلَافًا وَيَبْقَى حُثَالَةٌ كَحُثَالَةِ الشَّعِيرِ» – إسناده صحيح

Isḥāq b. ʿĪsá > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Abū al-Zinād > ʿAmr b. Abū ʿAmr > Saʿīd al-Maqburī ʿ n Abū Hurayrah

On the authority of Sa'id Al-Maqburi, from Abu Huraira, from the Prophet ﷺ who said, "How many are the people who fast, but gain nothing from their fast except hunger and thirst, and how many are the people who stand in prayer, but gain nothing from their standing except sleeplessness." – Sound

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو

عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَ نْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «كَمْ مِنْ صَائِمٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ إِلَّا الظَّمَأُ وَكَمْ مِنْ قَائِمٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْ قِيَامِهِ إِلَّا السَّهَرُ» – صحيح

ʿAbdullāh b. Yazīd > Saʿīd > Ibn Abū Ayyūb > Kaʿb b. ʿAlqamah

On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ that he mentioned prayer one day and said, "Whoever safeguards it, it will be a light, evidence, and salvation for him on the Day of Judgment. And whoever does not safeguard it, it will not be a light, nor salvation, nor evidence for him. He will be with Qarun, Pharaoh, Haman, and Ubay ibn Khalaf on the Day of Judgment." – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي كَعْبُ بْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ هِلَالٍ الصَّدَفِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ الصَّلَاةَ يَوْمًا فَقَالَ «مَنْ حَافَظَ عَلَيْهَا كَانَتْ لَهُ نُورًا وَبُرْهَانًا وَنَجَاةً مِنَ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَمَنْ لَمْ يُحَافِظْ عَلَيْهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ لَهُ نُورًا وَلَا نَجَاةً وَلَا بُرْهَانًا وَكَانَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَعَ قَارُونَ وَفِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَانَ وَأُبَيِّ بْنِ خَلَفٍ» – إسناده صحيح

ʿAbdullāh b. Ṣāliḥ > al-Layth > Ibn ʿAjlān > Ḥusayn b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿAbbās > ʿIkrimah > Ibn ʿAbbās

That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to encourage to perform the night prayer until he said, "Even if it is only one Rak'ah." – Sound

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَرْغَبُ فِي قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ حَتَّى قَالَ «وَلَوْ رَكْعَةً» – صحيح

Muḥammad b. Yūsuf > Isrāʾīl > Abū Isḥāq > ʿUbayd b. ʿAmr Abū al-Mughīrah > Ḥudhayfah

"I was harsh in the way I spoke to my family, but not to others. I mentioned that to the Prophet (saas) and he said: 'Why don't you ask for forgiveness? Ask Allah to forgive you, seventy times each day.'" – Fair Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَبِي الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ فِي لِسَانِي ذَرَبٌ عَلَى أَهْلِي وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يَعْدوُهُمْ إِلَى غَيْرِهِمْ فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ» – إسناده جيد

al-Ḥakam b. al-Mubārak > Salm b. Qutaybah > Suhayl al-Quṭaʿī > Thābit > Anas

From the Prophet ﷺ , that he recited, "He is the owner of piety and forgiveness" [Al-Muddathir 56]. He said: "Your Lord says: I am the owner of piety, so whoever fears Me, I am worthy to forgive him." – Weak Chain

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ سَلْمِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ الْقُطَعِيِّ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ {هُوَ أَهْلُ التَّقْوَى وَأَهْلُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ} [المدثر 56] قَالَ قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ أَنَا أَهْلٌ أَنْ أُتَّقَى فَمَنِ اتَّقَانِي فَأَنَا أَهْلٌ أَنْ أَغْفِرَ لَهُ – إسناده ضعيف

ʿUthmān b. Muḥammad > Muʿtamir > Kahmas b. al-Ḥasan > Abū al-Salīl > Abū Dhar

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, I know a verse that if people adhere to it, it would be sufficient for them. It is when their appointed term arrives, they are to either retain them according to acceptable terms or separate them according to acceptable terms and bring forth witnesses from among your men of justice. And establish the testimony for Allah. That is advised for whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day. And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out."

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ عَنْ كَهْمَسِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي السَّلِيلِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ آيَةً لَوْ أَخَذَ بِهَا النَّاسُ لَكَفَتْهُمْ {فَإِذَا بَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ فَارِقُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ وَأَشْهِدُوا ذَوَىْ عَدْلٍ مِنْكُمْ وَأَقِيمُوا الشَّهَادَةَ لِلَّهِ ذَلِكُمْ يُوعَظُ بِهِ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْأخِرِ وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا}

Manṣūr b. Salamah > Saʿīd > Ibn Muslim b. Bānak > ʿĀmir b. ʿAbdullāh b. al-Zubayr > ʿAwf b. al-Ḥārith > ʿĀʾishah

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: ‘O ‘Aishah, beware of (evil) deeds that are regarded as insignificant, for they have a pursuer from Allah. (i.e. accountability).” – Fair Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ هُوَ ابْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ بَانَكَ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ

لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَا عَائِشُ إِيَّاكِ وَمُحَقَّرَاتِ الذُّنُوبِ فَإِنَّ لَهَا مِنَ اللَّهِ طَالِبًا» – إسناده جيد

Muslim b. Ibrāhīm > ʿAlī b. Masʿadah al-Bāhilī > Qatādah > Anas

“Every son of Adam commits sin, and the best of those who commit sin are those who repent.’” – Good Chain

حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ الْبَاهِلِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كُلُّ بَنِي آدَمَ خَطَّاءٌ وَخَيْرُ الْخَطَّائِينَ التَّوَّابُونَ» – إسناده حسن

al-Naḍr b. Shumayl > Ḥammād b. Salamah > Simāk b. Ḥarb > al-Nuʿmān > Ibn Bashīr > Samiʿah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "A man traveled in a barren land. He sat under a tree with his mount and provisions. He fell asleep, and when he woke up, he found his mount gone. He climbed a hill and saw nothing. He climbed another hill and saw nothing. He climbed another hill and saw nothing." He said: "Then, he turned around and saw his mount coming towards him, carrying its saddle. He felt more joy with it than if Allah had given him a repenting servant." – Fair Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ النُّعْمَانِ هُوَ ابْنُ بَشِيرٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «سَافَرَ رَجُلٌ فِي أَرْضٍ تَنُوفَةٍ» فَقَالَ «تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ وَمَعَهُ رَاحِلَتُهُ عَلَيْهَا زَادُهُ وَطَعَامُهُ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ وَقَدْ ذَهَبَتْ رَاحِلَتُهُ فَعَلَا شَرَفًا فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ عَلَا شَرَفًا فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ عَلَا شَرَفًا فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا» قَالَ «فَالْتَفَتَ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِهَا تَجُرُّ خِطَامَهَا فَمَا هُوَ بِأَشَدَّ فَرَحًا بِهَا مِنَ اللَّهِ بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ إِذَا تَابَ إِلَيْهِ» – إسناده جيد

Musaddad > Yaḥyá > Sufyān from his father > Abū Yaʿlá > al-Rabīʿ b. Khuthaym > ʿAbdullāh

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ drew a square for us, then drew a line through the middle of it, and drew lines around it. He drew a line outside the square and said, "This person represents the middle line, and this circle encloses it. These lines represent the qualities. If one's line deviates, the others will correct it. And this hope is for the outside line." – Sound Chain

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي يَعْلَى عَنْ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

خَطَّ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَطًّا مُرَبَّعًا ثُمَّ خَطَّ وَسَطَهُ خَطًّا ثُمَّ خَطَّ حَوْلَهُ خُطُوطًا وَخَطَّ خَطًّا خَارِجًا مِنَ الْخَطِّ فَقَالَ «هَذَا الْإِنْسَانُ لِلْخَطِّ الْأَوْسَطِ وَهَذَا الْأَجَلُ مُحِيطٌ بِهِ وَهَذِهِ الْأَعْرَاضُ لِلْخُطُوطِ فَإِذَا أَخْطَأَهُ وَاحِدٌ نَهَشَهُ الْآخَرُ وَهَذَا الْأَمَلُ لِلْخَطِّ الْخَارِجِ» – إسناده صحيح

Abū al-Nuʿmān > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Mubārak > Zakariyyā > Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Saʿd b. Zurārah > Ibn Kaʿb b. Mālik from his father

"Two wolves free among sheep are no more destructive to them than a man's desire for wealth and honor is to his religion." – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَا ذِئْبَانِ جَائِعَانِ أُرْسِلَا فِي غَنَمٍ بِأَفْسَدَ لَهَا مِنْ حِرْصِ الْمَرْءِ عَلَى الْمَالِ وَالشَّرَفِ لِدِينِهِ» – إسناده صحيح

Abū al-Nuʿmān > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Mubārak > Hishām b. al-Ghāz > Ḥayyān Abū al-Naḍr > Wāthilah b. al-Asqaʿ

From the Prophet ﷺ , Allah, the Most Blessed and Exalted, said: "I am as my servant thinks of me. So let him think of me as he wishes." – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ الْغَازِ عَنْ حَيَّانَ أَبِي النَّضْرِ عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي فَلْيَظُنَّ بِي مَا شَاءَ – إسناده صحيح

al-Ḥakam b. Nāfiʿ > Shuʿayb > al-Zuhrī > Saʿīd b. al-Musayyib And ʾAbū Salamah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Abū Hurayrah

"The Messenger of Allah said, when the Verse: 'And warn your tribe (O Muhammad) of near kindred.' was revealed: 'O Quraish! Buy your souls from your Lord; I cannot avail you anything before Allah. O Banu 'Abdul-Muttalib! I cannot avail you anything before Allah. O 'Abbas bin 'Abdul-Muttalib! I cannot avail you anything before Allah. O Safiyyah, paternal aunt of the Messenger of Allah! I cannot avail you anything before Allah. O Fatimah bint Muhammad! Ask me for whatever you want, I cannot avail you anything before Allah.'" – Sound Chain

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ حِينَ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ} [الشعراء 214] فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ قُرَيْشٍ اشْتَرُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ لَا أُغْنِي عَنْكُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ لَا أُغْنِي عَنْكُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا يَا عَبَّاسُ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَلِّبِ لَا أُغْنِي عَنْكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا يَا صَفِيَّةُ عَمَّةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ لَا أُغْنِي عَنْكِ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا يَا فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ سَلِينِي مَا شِئْتِ لَا أُغْنِي عَنْكِ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا» – إسناده صحيح

al-Ḥasan b. al-Rabīʿ > Abū al-Aḥwaṣ > al-Aʿmash > Abū Sufyān > Jābir

Observe moderation in deeds (and if it is not possible, try to be near moderation) and understand that none amongst you can attain salvation because of his deeds alone. They said: Messenger of Allah, not even you? Thereupon he said: Not even I, but that Allah should wrap me in His Mercy and Grace. – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قَارِبُوا وَسَدِّدُوا وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ أَحَدًا مِنْكُمْ لَنْ يُنْجِيَهُ عَمَلُهُ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلَا أَنْتَ؟ قَالَ «وَلَا أَنَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِيَ اللَّهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنْهُ وَفَضْلٍ» – إسناده صحيح

Muḥammad b. Yūsuf > Sufyān > Manṣūr > Sālim b. Abū al-Jaʿd from his father > ʿAbdullāh

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There is not one of you except that he has a companion from the jinn and a companion from the angels." They asked: "Even you?" He replied: "Yes, even me. But Allah has aided me against him, so he has submitted." Abu Muhammad said: "Among the people is someone who says, 'I have submitted' but he means, 'I have given up'." – Sound Chain

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا وَمَعَهُ قَرِينُهُ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَقَرِينُهُ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ» قَالُوا وَإِيَّاكَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ وَإِيَّايَ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ أَعَانَنِي عَلَيْهِ فَأَسْلَمُ» قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد مِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَقُولُ أَسْلَمَ اسْتَسْلَمَ يَقُولُ ذَلَّ – إسناده صحيح

The Prophet ﷺ said, "If you knew that which I know, you would laugh little and weep much." – Sound Chain

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا أَعْلَمُ لَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلًا وَلَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا» – إسناده صحيح
