Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman:

"I asked Masruq, 'Who informed the Prophet about the Jinns at the night when they heard the Qur'an?' He said, 'Your father 'Abdullah informed me that a tree informed the Prophet about them.' "

حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ، عَنْ مَعْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي قَالَ، سَأَلْتُ مَسْرُوقًا مَنْ آذَنَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِالْجِنِّ لَيْلَةَ اسْتَمَعُوا الْقُرْآنَ. فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُوكَ ـ يَعْنِي عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ـ أَنَّهُ آذَنَتْ بِهِمْ شَجَرَةٌ.
