Sahl b. Sa’d said:
I saw the people tying their wrappers over their necks like children due to the narrowness of the wrappers behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during prayer. Someone said: Body of women, do not raise your heads until the men raise (their heads).

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الأَنْبَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ الرِّجَالَ عَاقِدِي أُزُرِهِمْ فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ مِنْ ضِيقِ الأُزُرِ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الصَّلاَةِ كَأَمْثَالِ الصِّبْيَانِ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ لاَ تَرْفَعْنَ رُءُوسَكُنَّ حَتَّى يَرْفَعَ الرِّجَالُ .
