The Ways of Ascent
﷽
The Noble Qur'an سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ ﴿١﴾ |
English - Sahih International A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen(1) |
The Noble Qur'an لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌ ﴿٢﴾ |
English - Sahih International To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer.(2) |
The Noble Qur'an مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ ﴿٣﴾ |
English - Sahih International [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent.(3) |
The Noble Qur'an تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ ﴿٤﴾ |
English - Sahih International The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.(4) |
The Noble Qur'an فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا ﴿٥﴾ |
English - Sahih International So be patient with gracious patience.(5) |
The Noble Qur'an إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًا ﴿٦﴾ |
English - Sahih International Indeed, they see it [as] distant,(6) |
The Noble Qur'an وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًا ﴿٧﴾ |
English - Sahih International But We see it [as] near.(7) |
The Noble Qur'an يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ ﴿٨﴾ |
English - Sahih International On the Day the sky will be like murky oil,(8) |
The Noble Qur'an وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ﴿٩﴾ |
English - Sahih International And the mountains will be like wool,(9) |
The Noble Qur'an وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا ﴿١٠﴾ |
English - Sahih International And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend,(10) |
The Noble Qur'an يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ ﴿١١﴾ |
English - Sahih International They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children(11) |
The Noble Qur'an وَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَأَخِيهِ ﴿١٢﴾ |
English - Sahih International And his wife and his brother(12) |
The Noble Qur'an وَفَصِيلَتِهِ ٱلَّتِى تُـْٔوِيهِ ﴿١٣﴾ |
English - Sahih International And his nearest kindred who shelter him(13) |
The Noble Qur'an وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ ﴿١٤﴾ |
English - Sahih International And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him.(14) |
The Noble Qur'an كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ ﴿١٥﴾ |
English - Sahih International No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell],(15) |
The Noble Qur'an نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَىٰ ﴿١٦﴾ |
English - Sahih International A remover of exteriors.(16) |
The Noble Qur'an تَدْعُوا۟ مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴿١٧﴾ |
English - Sahih International It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience](17) |
The Noble Qur'an وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰٓ ﴿١٨﴾ |
English - Sahih International And collected [wealth] and hoarded.(18) |
The Noble Qur'an ۞ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا ﴿١٩﴾ |
English - Sahih International Indeed, mankind was created anxious:(19) |
The Noble Qur'an إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا ﴿٢٠﴾ |
English - Sahih International When evil touches him, impatient,(20) |
The Noble Qur'an وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا ﴿٢١﴾ |
English - Sahih International And when good touches him, withholding [of it],(21) |
The Noble Qur'an إِلَّا ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ ﴿٢٢﴾ |
English - Sahih International Except the observers of prayer -(22) |
The Noble Qur'an ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآئِمُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾ |
English - Sahih International Those who are constant in their prayer(23) |
The Noble Qur'an وَٱلَّذِينَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَّعْلُومٌ ﴿٢٤﴾ |
English - Sahih International And those within whose wealth is a known right(24) |
The Noble Qur'an لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ ﴿٢٥﴾ |
English - Sahih International For the petitioner and the deprived -(25) |
The Noble Qur'an وَٱلَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿٢٦﴾ |
English - Sahih International And those who believe in the Day of Recompense(26) |
The Noble Qur'an وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾ |
English - Sahih International And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord -(27) |
The Noble Qur'an إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ ﴿٢٨﴾ |
English - Sahih International Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe -(28) |
The Noble Qur'an وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَٰفِظُونَ ﴿٢٩﴾ |
English - Sahih International And those who guard their private parts(29) |
The Noble Qur'an إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ ﴿٣٠﴾ |
English - Sahih International Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed -(30) |
The Noble Qur'an فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ ﴿٣١﴾ |
English - Sahih International But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors -(31) |
The Noble Qur'an وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَٰنَٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ ﴿٣٢﴾ |
English - Sahih International And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive(32) |
The Noble Qur'an وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَٰدَٰتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَ ﴿٣٣﴾ |
English - Sahih International And those who are in their testimonies upright(33) |
The Noble Qur'an وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ ﴿٣٤﴾ |
English - Sahih International And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer:(34) |
The Noble Qur'an أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ مُّكْرَمُونَ ع ﴿٣٥﴾ |
English - Sahih International They will be in gardens, honored.(35) |
The Noble Qur'an فَمَالِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ ﴿٣٦﴾ |
English - Sahih International So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muhammad],(36) |
The Noble Qur'an عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ ﴿٣٧﴾ |
English - Sahih International [To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups?(37) |
The Noble Qur'an أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍ ﴿٣٨﴾ |
English - Sahih International Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure?(38) |
The Noble Qur'an كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾ |
English - Sahih International No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know.(39) |
The Noble Qur'an فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْمَشَٰرِقِ وَٱلْمَغَٰرِبِ إِنَّا لَقَٰدِرُونَ ﴿٤٠﴾ |
English - Sahih International So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able(40) |
The Noble Qur'an عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ ﴿٤١﴾ |
English - Sahih International To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone.(41) |
The Noble Qur'an فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾ |
English - Sahih International So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised -(42) |
The Noble Qur'an يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾ |
English - Sahih International The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening.(43) |
The Noble Qur'an خَٰشِعَةً أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ ع ﴿٤٤﴾ |
English - Sahih International Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised.(44) |
